Don't worry the other ACs are going to have their cooldown's doubled.

You're preaching to the choir about the charge-up. But the minimum range is hilariously ridiculous. It's not the "best idea".

I don't think PPC'S deserve a min range.

The gauss needs it.
Sniper weapons that can be used at any range, cause a stale peekaboo game play. Longer cycle or high heat just reinforces that need to stay far and hidden. Advancing on long range loadouts isn't worth it if they can still used their weapons with the same efficency when in close.

In all fairness, there are better ways to balance it, but they aren't options PGI offers on ballistic, like changing damage.

I don't get the complaining about the chargeup from the poptarters...you can still poptart and shoot Gauss rifles with the chargeup. It's just harder than without it.

The problem most likely stems from the advanced average player age in this game...it does take a little bit of coordination to poptart with Gauss but it's still very possible (aside from the crap jump jets).

So the gauss remains in the realm of tryhards and macro users.

Why do people insist that using a macro to compensate for the gauss charge is a good thing?

Actually, your money isn't worth anything. It's only pieces of fabric, paper, or metals depending on your country.

This is true for some countries, not sure if they all have given up on actual value.

I think some people have a mental barrier with let go to fire, so single click helps, or click to fire with a click to cancel is best for saving shots and focus. I've done it with the gauss and ppcs, but need to use too many for different ranges.

I have no problem with the charge mechanic, but it is silly to have when the Gauss gets destroyed easily and frequently explodes when destroyed.

Just make it explode for x% of active charge, out of 20 damage. 30% charged and get a laser spew? Take 20x.3 damage, or about 6.

the charge up is a good balance for all this gun offers and not really a problem. People get used to it in like 2 matches so I don't really see a problem with it.

cuz ppl need their ezmode

The thing is fifteen tons and takes up a ridiculous amount of space plus it needs ammo to boot.
Thats weakness enough.

My AC20 feels no sympathy for you. Tell you what, let my ac20 reach across the map at near hitscan speeds, for essentially no heat, then we'll talk.

Just to be clear I don't use any macro. I also only have 1 mech with a gauss which rarely sees action.

If people want to use a macro that's up to them I am not calling cheat here but, when a large % of the player base to get around a mechanic use a macro do away with the mechanic.

I wish the new gauss charge works this way:

Spoiler

It's still charging, but not problematic with Alphas.

I like the charge up, it offers a good balancing mechanism without needing to obliterate its other stats like giving it an excessively huge cooldown or make up stupid BS like energy draw and then give it an excessively high energy draw value.

Of course the energy draw on it still sucks (because energy draw is bad) and the cooldown is too high, and additionally the charge up mechanism needs a couple tweaks, but I think the charge up will pretty much always make it more balanced.

I think this is just a case of perception (i.e. a lot of people use macros) vs. reality. I doubt macro users are that many.

You don't have to use a macro to "get gud" with the Gauss charge up function...
