When VoIP was included with this game, I was admittedly worried that it would only be used by players to say inappropriate things about each-others' mothers. Luckily that (mostly) hasn't been the case.
...but part of the toxicity in this game lies in the mechanics. So much emphasis is put onto "Kills" and individual performance, but very little is put into "Team performance". Although I don't play it, I've heard that Overwatch only concerns itself with whether a team won or lost, and if you really want to see teamwork, that's the sort of mentality you've got to have. None of this K/D ratio business. Do that, and we might start to see more builds than "Thing that kills things up close" and "Thing that kills things from a kilometer away", and players tripping all over each-other to be the one to get the little atlas skull on their monitor - especially during the events.

Well, I for one, agree.. This is supposed to be a team oriented game, yet the game promotes individual play and personal glory more than anything else. But it's just a symptom of a larger problem - total lack of immersion.
Of course that only the individual matters, cose' that's what you do in an arena deathmatch.
If we had objectives instead of kills, if we had missions instead of "kill em' all and let the gods sort them out" drops, than maybe, people would play differently, but FW's untimely demise ruined all that..

I was around, and I LOVED it. It was the only thing about the game that made me feel like I actually owned the mech. Ever since its removal, I've had the feeling that the mechs in my hangar are not my own.
I was around also, and when it was first implemented, the problem was that after fully repairing and restocking your mech, you would either lose money, or be up by a few thousand cbills, and that made the grind to that coveted Atlas an impossible task.
I would love if R&R was a thing again, but the prices should be such as to not affect the grind that much. For instance, I don't mind the 80.000 Cbills I pay for consumables I use almost every match.. I would care even less if my income was +300K before rearming them..

This is why I cant wait for repair and rearm. Because it would add an entirely new layer to the game and add to the sim but also because it would encourage players to try their best and make for better more meaningful matches.
Could you make a separate thread of what else you can't wait for?

One way to make this game slower, besides no respawn and a sniping meta, is to re-add R+R. PGI will never re-add that. If they did, they should also rename the game ZZZZzzzzz Warrior Online.

I had a game today where we spread out and started to do a standard die on your own. Other players and myself stepped up and we shared calls and targets and the team not only turned the game around but made it a good fight. What got my attention and stuck in my mind was this.
I noted we were getting flanked and saw who was close enough to move to intercept it. I called it out and that player was able to turn the attack. He saved the two team mates on our left and got taken out at the same time. More then likely he won the game for us. I used the Voip and told him good job, way to go.
You know what he replied with? 'Ya I know, I screwed up.......sorry" I replied that No he did not screw up that he supported his team mates and did do a good job! His first thought was that I was criticizing him. WTF!?!
What struck me was that he and probably a lot of other players have become so use to snipping and the you suck calls that they just go ahead and assume that all comments are negative.
For my self I find that really sad and we should as a group take the time to let the emotional stunted among us know that we will not tolerate it. I could add in the standard stuff of working together and so but will stop here. Just as we need to stop grieffing each other.
OK feel free to flam.

Trying to level Victors atm. FIrst match out with a 9B last night. Pugging. Get polar. Did awful. Got left behind and the whole enemy team nascar-ed in behind and I was focused/melted down in seconds, but that was as much my fault as the rest of the teams. Here's the relevant part though:
Guy in Cheetah dropped back from the main body to help guard me from the two lights he had initially spotted coming up behind me as I made my way back to the main ball. When I said over VOIP. "Hey thanks man for coming back to support me, I felt it necessary to also add: "No really, I really mean that. Thanks." That last part should not be necessary. But in this game its like everyone is so used to everyone else being an ******* that you have to make an extra qualifier to get sincerity across. Its totally abnormal to how we interact in RL but here it is indeed the norm.

Part of the problem is the community. When we first saw Conquest and Assault, capturing a point didn't take even half as much time as it does now. IN conquest for even a lone mech it took... what... 10, 20 seconds to change from red to blue? Under a minute to cap HQ in assault? People griped that they had to do anything but "Kill everything" because "This is a game called
Conquest: Team deathmatch but if you take too long than whoever could afford to let their lights screw around on their own wins.
Assault: Team deathmatch but if you nascar the first one to the HQ wins. Also you can stop the match early if the last guy alive is a jerk in a ERLL raven hiding somewhere.
Skirmish: Team deathmatch, period.
Domination: Team deathmatch where either everyone gets in the circle and brawls, or teams send in sacrificial lambs to get slaughtered by Kodiak walls.
CW - Scouting: Team deathmatch whe... who are we kidding. Clans in Streakboats and ERSL boats farm IS players.
CW - Invasion: Team deathmatch with four respawns, except if you're on your last wave and feeling screwed maybe you'll try to take out the Gens.
