As others have said, your intentions were good.
In one of the past events where one of the requirements was to get a kmdd's vs lights in faction warfare, people were having a hard time achieving this because no one was dropping in lights.
I deliberately only used lights in scouting mode so at least one person had the chance to get a kmdd (assuming they got me)
