It is time for me to build a new desktop. My limit is about $1500-1600 for a decent rig. Suggestions for a build are appreciated. I also am hoping to get at least 3 years out of it. I already have a mouse, keyboard and monitor. I might get some speakers for it as the internal ones on the monitor suck and seem to suck for all monitors with built in speakers.

My laptop is also getting old (my trusty hp probook 6360b). Suggestions for a build or a pre-made one. Price range would be about the same as the desktop max, but I would rather keep it around $1000.

Thanks and have a great day!

As far as the laptop goes, it's not a bad machine, but you probably would have been better-served getting one of the newer ones with a Skylake i7 in it and the mobile GTX 1060. Not sure what the price difference would have been since Amazon shows it currently unavailable (thus no price shown).

As for desktop... something like this suit your fancy?

Speakers... $100 or so for a decent PC speaker kit (like the somewhat legendary Klipsch 2.1 set) is what I would spend unless you want to get -serious- about your sound. If you want to get serious, build a separate budget for it, and I'd start in the $250-500 range. I game on my studio rig, which is set with a Focusrite USB interface and Yamaha HS8 monitors, but I'd hardly recommend that, and honestly spending $120 or so for a headset is a much better idea (since not only then do you get some decent sound, but you can communicate in-game).

on a side note. go into your speaker setting, enable loudness equalization and see if your sound is louder.

Swap out that hard drive for a SSD as quickly as possible.

for 1.6K budget

the build should at least fit a GTX1080

i omitted the OS but you can buy it from Kinguin.net

https://www.kinguin....sional-oem-key/

it around 30 dollars USD for the key and you are getting the Win 10 Pro edition.

you can download the ISO from Microsoft and use this key to activate.
