So this is a pretty simple question. If PGI is turning out MW5 under a new engine, is it:

A- Going to have multiplayer
B- Going to be able to run on private servers?

I have a feeling both answers are no, because PGI would never do that. Frankly the only reason I am asking is MW:O would have been a stellar game if not for all the terrible, terrible decisions made by Paul & crew, and continue to plague the game to this very day. A moddable private server version would likely make a lot of us very happy as we're no longer tied to utterly nonsensical and baffling decisions made by a very out of touch gameplay lead.

If they were making a true MW5 with SP and MP and not tied to their server-only host policy (and thus able to actually fix the game, something that isn't nearly as hard as they've made it out to be) I would absolutely be in despite everything bad. Because I guarantee you'd see an overnight re-balancing undoing all of the bad decisions in under a month.

Again, I'm just curious which it is. I suspect this is a single-player only cashgrab and not a true attempt at making a full MW5 package. I would very much like to be wrong.

I'm pretty sure there won't be multiplayer in it. It would definitely eat into MWO's playerbase severely even if everything about it was the same except for the engine.

I hope for modability though. Mods add a lot of extra life to any game and get the community a lot more involved.

No to multiplayer, because...
  • They said so
  • Even if they were inclined to fib about it, it would be dumb as hell to do so.

Oh, so no co-op then. That was the only reason I was ever stopping by the website every few weeks.
