My favourite used to be one 'Goyle an three Novas. Back before the recent uac patch.
I'm not a huge fan of the Kodiak on invasion assaults, as it's too slow. So right now I'm just at a Madcat, (Timberwolf), Cauldron Born (Ebon Jaguar), and then a pair of Blackhawks (Novas.) I suppose you could throw in a Hunchback mark Two, Clan Version instead of a nova. They're good mechs. Maybe upgrade to a Vulture (Mad Dog) If you wanna use the full 250 tonnage.

This looks like a enemy intel gathering thread.
But dependant on map that is being played on and sometimes missions as well as what drop caller wants us to bring.
Generally I prefer to run heavys/mediums but also have some Warhawks for heavy lifting and adders to horribly fail in light rushes, on the plusside the enemy likes to focus on me early on leaving the real dangers to heavily damage or destroy the enemy.

Kodiak and three HBK-IICs was the last thing I did, but over time I've majored in TBRs and SCRs. But I haven't played it seriously since early days because the mode is dull.

2xEBJ or 2x HBR and then 2 MDD for me currently.
That said I've run anything from a TBR/SCR/ACH mixture to a KDK3 / 2x MDD and a light etc.
Long as the build is decent, you'll be fine in anything.

For farming: I run TBR, HBR, SCR/EBJ, IFR/SHC, all Invasion variants for the c-bills bonus.
For defense, I haven't had a chance to test my 3 Night Gyr + Mist Lynx concept. What? I think it sound like a blast
In general, if you bring a bunch of mid-speed heavies and mediums, you'll be in good shape. My go-to deck was 3 HBR, 1 SHC for a while. I won't deny that I enjoyed that ECM.
Timbers can be nasty, you just have to figure out what you want to run with them to offset the tonnage. I don't bring ClanTech lights to anything in FP if I can help it.
I find that the Ferret and Shadowcat are much better options for just about anything those lights would do for me. Unless I'm doing something like boating Night Gyrs or Timbers, the 45 tonners are far more useful to me as the running or sneaking mech.
