so, instead of protect/destroy the atlas, why not have it as a moving capture point?

Would still be the same start up, i.e. the defenders still start with it captured, and it would plod to its destination as normal, provided some one was within a certain distance, say 100m. But the attackers would have to separate the escort, capture it, then escort it to their own drop zone. At this point the defenders would have to capture it back to return it to its original route.

Not sure about it only moving if the owning team was within 100m, people might just abandon it, but having it as a moving capture point seems to me like it would be a more fluid battle.

Also id rather it was a convoy, tailored to the map, than crash-test-dummy-atlas. But thats just my personal opinion. (Also, by tailored to the map, i mean themed around the terrain. for example, ATVs and tracked transports for alpine, but limos and trucks for river city)

Also, a bit off topic, but why not use some actual in game assets to make some thing that actually looks like a radar/ecm tower? again just a pet peeve. I don't like the spinning beacons.

Here's a simpler change that would make escort alot more balanced (and bearable): each team has their own VIP. I know, it's crazy, but think about it...
The VIP's have their own randomized predetermined paths that occasionally cross one another. Players now have to decide whether to go on offense or defense instead of having that decision forced down their throat before the drop. The team that loses their VIP first loses or the team that escorts their VIP to the extraction point first wins.

I hate this game mode in its current state because I feel I'm the only one on my team that tries to attack or defend the designated oblivious zombie stomping along without a care in the world (like most of his protectors). I've probably played escort a couple dozen times now with only 1 victory and I'm at the point where I couldn't care less of that brain-dead atlas' health status. But, giving both teams the same objective would make for much more interesting battles.

Best idea is to scrap this and start again. It's really painful no matter which side I am on.

How about this.

Introduce a safe word for domination mode.

If people type the safe word into global chat.

A dropship will swoop in & pick them up carrying them back to the lobby.

And they will be replaced by someone else in the search queue with a mech of the same weight class.

Then they make sweet robot love to each other. Seriously, it is not hard to code it so that they will never run into each other.

So now the VIPs will NASCAR to the other side of the map, further reinforcing the habit. :P
