In my country 3'400 people decide will the specific TV show live or die. While overall population is 140'000'000.
Get impressed a lil bit more.

I suspect sarcasm was involved in the post you quoted.

*reads every post in thread in futile attempt to find anyone stating anything remotely similar to that assertion*

I'm with ya OP, the current phase is probably the best state FP has ever been. QP game modes with dropdecks add in some much needed variety and waiting times are much shorter than what they used to be.

My biggest issue is that Invasion mode games are pretty rare nowadays. I think it's a good idea to either decrease the threshold required to trigger them or have a chance to play invasion mode regardless of threshold with the chance of getting invasion mode increasing as one side is becoming more dominant in the tug of war.

I mean look at all the invasion maps we got, it's a shame we hardly get to play them.

Just take the current mode progression and repeat it 4 times on each side of the bar, so there are 4 skirmish "zones" , 4 invasion "zones" etc. That will do wonders for variety.

why not make the game mode random never know what game mode you get till you drop as attackers.
the defenders can already start with knowledge of mode since its there planet and have been on it for a long time.

then make it so when you start scouting and reaching your mile stones in scouting that mode becomes available for the attacker to see. bump mech identification to the right with satellite sweep as the 3rdchoice. scouting just becomes more viable.

when you think about it in all reality the attackers shouldn't have much knowledge of the terrain(in this case the game mode) till they get there scouts down on the planet to scout it out.

Attack without basic information about battlefield in reality? I seriously doubt this.
And because tug-of-war there is no definite "attacker", PUGs can't go to defence to avoid this penalty. Not a great idea for me.
