What are good poptart builds for inner sphere mechs?

These are the main builds I've run.

Grasshopper 5J: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...09ae8269a2b7449

The grasshopper seems broken for poptarting. The J is the only variant that can boat 6 jump jets reaching a 45 m altitude. The drawback with the J is the lower energy hardpoints in the arms. Other grasshopper variants with torso energy hardpoints have higher mounts but can only mount 4 jump jets.

I don't remember if the grasshopper can alpha 3 PPC's consistently for 30 pinpoint(which would give it an advantage over clan poptarts which could alpha 2 PPC's at most.) That was the goal I was shooting for.

I'm not saying my poptart builds are good but feedback & good builds for IS poptart would be appreciated.

Holy cripes, that Shadowhawk looks hot. I see what you are trying to do on it, but I would suggest you drop one PPC, upgrade all of the SRMs to SRM4A, and then shove as many DHS in there as you can. Something more like this.

You also don't need more than four jets to pop-tart, and can even scoot by on three. Five is nice to have, but a waste of tonnage, especially on Mediums whose jets are the most potent per ton.

Good IS pop-tarts? Going up the tonnage scale:

BJ-3 (alt. STD version that is just as heat efficient)

SHD-2K

TDR-9SE

MAD-5M

You can also do the TDR-9SE build on a CPLT-C1. The MAD-5D can brawl-poptart using 2xSRM6A+1xERPPC with 4xSPL/ML as backup on an XL 360. It's pretty good at it. It should be good with PPCs, too, but PGI didn't give it anything for PPCs despite it being a PPC-carrying variant (like all the Warhammers). Ergo, MAD-5M since it will run less toasty when doing it.

Urbies are my most favorite IS poptart Mechs. Now, whether they're good or not is besides the question. Posted Image

For the sake of variety here's something a little less conventional in the poptart category.

You could always drop an ML for more JJ if it isn't jumpy enough for you.

Dunno why people want IS poptarts over that of Clan ones, but here are some less obvious poptarts.

Raven-4X. High mounted arm and 10% range. RVN-4X Poptart

Same with Jenner-K. JR7-K Poptart

The forgotten classic. High torsi mounts. CTF-3D Poptart

Same with Highlander. HGN-732B Poptart

I've run almost the same Shadow Hawk. I don't have a link at hand, but I take the SRM's down to a triple pack of SRM2's with one ton of ammo, which gives a nice concentrated punch out to 270 m. Then I shove the engine (XL300) and torso sections full of DHS, I believe there are 15. I put a medium laser in that last hardpoint because I like pushing multiple buttons.

It's quite fun to run, because it runs so cool, you can just fire with abandon. It's like having an AC20 with twice the range and no ammo concerns.

Yeah, yeah, not idealized, no real Quirks to speak of. I like it anyway.
Quickdraw 5K XL350, Full jets, 2ERPPC and 2ML.

Its tough. High hard point. If you end up close -those gigantic shield arms. Now if the new skills tree lets me quirk it for this kind of play, I'll be a happy camper.

Honestly... the Phoenix Hawk is not that bad. I guess the BJ is better, but the PXH offers more speed, better jumping, more armor quirks and... well, it just looks cooler than the BJ.

For the solo queue, I also really like the speed of the PXH for when your team suddenly wanders off in a random direction and you have to reposition quickly.

Only reason would be for FW, where one side can pop-tart well, and the other side not as well.

Tiny arms, tiny torso, massive legs, hips as wide as the shoulders.

You forgot a medium, it doesn't have the velocity quirk but has a heat gen quirk that almost matches the BJ-3's: GRF-1E

I also improved your SHD-2K build, one less heat sink for an extra jump and a click below Stormcrow speed.
