A modified Panther, of the Second Arkab Legion of the DCMS, early in the 3rd Succession War. Due to ammo shortages, and the Legion's quick raiding style, this warrior has had his tech remove the short range missile rack from the torso, and instead mount a pair of Medium Lasers on the left arm, with an added heatsink placed where the ammo magazine once was.

This mech and his companion in a LCT-1V Locust are conducting a raid on the Independence Weaponry facilities on the Federated Suns world of Quentin. He may shortly get a very hot surprise courtesy the 2 AFFS foot soldiers preparing to fire an Inferno Missile at him.

Based on Alex Iglesias' (Flying Debris) official version for MW:O with the Locust based on Anthony Scroggins' (Shimmering Sword) official CGL Classic Battletech version.

Ooooh, that Locust in the back, though!

Based on the new CGL Locust design, right?
Spoiler

Bloody good work!

based on it, yeah, though I re-proportioned it to be similar to the MWO one, because (IMO) the official CGL one just looks to cramped and narrow. I also tried to resize Alex's PNT to the original TRO 3025 proportions to make it look a little less like a Goblin.

If my Enforcers looked like that, I'd probably play my Enforcers.

Yep insisting on the modular weapon designs doesn't always work out the best. The unique cannons on the Enforcer look really nice.

"Dynamic" Weapon Models have been one of the biggest points of visual contention, in large part because of the lack of consistency in the models. A 7 ton PPC SHOULD look bloody huge on a 20 ton mech. It's literally 35% of the things mass.

I know some of the Meta Crowd would cry "hitboxes" but TBH... I say? Tough crap. You want a huge frikking gun, you should have a huge frikking gun. Stop looking for minmaxing loopholes.

I can't count the number of mechs ruined by lazy modeling... (Jager and Enforcer as prime examples), but it's even worse wen we have good models that then get borked by bad weapon models (BJ, Centurion, Awesome, etc).

Yeah, I guess I'm vain, but the whole point of giant stompy robots...what drew literally everyone into playing them....is not that they made sense, were remotely effective.... no. It's because they LOOK cool.

'I thought about staying closer to the MWO version, but without the bubble head, it's just NOT a Quickdraw in my eyes, nor did it have the visible and vulnerable ankle flanges mentioned in the fluff text, so instead, I decided to simply try to clean and tighten up the TRO 3025 look into a more feasible look.

Totally agree.
The MWO design of the Quickdraw has very little in common with both the mech's descriptions and the original art.
I'm quite saddened by the fact, especially since Alex had made a much better Quickdraw artwork previously.

Maybe it wouldn't have been as bad if the in-game model was closer to the concept art, but alas,

Well, there's always the issue with stuff like cockpits not being big enough to actually fit a human inside.
Finding a good middle ground or model of what a 7 ton gun should look like would always be a big headache.

Still, I agree a lot of mechs got the short stick. Centurion used to be one of the best looking ones around and forgoing details like the missile pod on the vindicator for the 3D model made sure his old rival would not fare any better in a beauty contest.

ANYWAY, the drawings look great. Though I think the perspective on the Panther's front foot looks a tiiny tiny bit off. Posted Image

Best warriors in the Combine, despite the constant lack of respect from the Warlords. <o
(also it made me realize I didn't put the flavor text in the OP.... fixed!)
