I recently brought the KTO-18 and am enjoying it. I'm wondering what are peoples thoughts on the 19, 20 and Golden Boy?

I use the 18 as a SRM brawler and had planned on to do the same to the others.

An annoying LRM boat along with the pretentious Trebuchet.

Well i've been using the 18 and i'd assume the rest as SRM brawlers.

Umm, it's an ugly malnourished chimpanzee and I never see them on the field?

Only real issue is that it's hard points are scattered a bit, not stacked on top of each other like on the Griffin.

I'll echo this. It does weigh 55tons but as everyone has said the hardpoint placement is very annoying. Also, it's low on Energy hardpoints save the KTO-20. This is due to the KTO being designed as a NARC mech. So the CT hardpoint was meant for a NARC. On the KTO-20, the NARC was replaced with some lasers. KTO-20 Could be an OK brawler. I think the other thing people dislike about it is hitboxes...but I've never played it (and I don't see them that often so I hardly get a chance to shoot at them) so I can't confirm this hitbox thing.

Edit: KTO-20(with Ferro) I managed to fit pulse lasers onto it Posted Image

Edit2: IMO the primary reason we see so many LRM boats is because of that spread out missile thing. (And you know, 4-5 missile hardpoints on most of them)

It's a competent 'mech. Maybe not the most tactically flexible of chassis, but if it can get a good position; variants like the Kintaro 19 can deal a lot of damage in a quick amount of time. The 19 provides a good SRM/Medium Pulse brawling option. I keep it's two SRM 6's and three medium pulse lasers all in it's arms.

The quirks allow it's pulse lasers and SRMS to be fired at the same time. It can also alpha quite rapidly with some cooldown modules. Because of this, It can often deal 87 damage before most slower enemies are able to fully turn around and engage.

There is also the optional decision to mount an additional NARC onto its right torso. It's the highest mounted hardpoint that the Kintaro has. It will allow some better NARC accuracy while making use of it's quirks. Kintaros can also be seen as a fairly durable chassis, but not enough to be careless.

Here's my build... it's a very compact design. Good for ambush brawling, or as a LRM boat escort.

Only have the Golden Boy and found it to make a good LRM support mech. 2 LRMs, 3 SRM's, TAG and couple ML/SL depending on what I felt like for the day.

Hard points are pretty scattered but found it to be fun

Good LRM5 boats but outclassed in every other category by a different medium. Wonky hitboxes and hardpoint locations, decently durable and quick though.

Kintaro is generally okay, doesn't really do much to make itself stand out since the introduction of Griffins aside from having some of the missile hardpoints on the arms- it lacks the jets to make a good comparison there.

Try to stay away from the Golden Boy- In exchange for having one more right arm energy hardpoint than the 18, it moves one of the right torso missile hardpoints to the CT (which is much more limiting), has a smaller engine cap, and loses just enough torso pitch and yaw to hamper it significantly. It's possibly the worst hero 'mech around on Inner Sphere side because it does basically nothing different from non-hero variants.

I mastered mine a few months ago. It's a decent SRM brawler and a decent LRM boat. I ran mine them with 2 large pulse lasers and 2 medium lasers to break the monotony. I think it has a hard time differentiating itself from Trebuchets, maybe because I was leveling them simultaneously.

My biggest peeve with them is the CT missile door. I always forget to open them, then wonder why my SRMs are staggered.

And yeah, there's no point buying the Golden Boy. It's just more of the same.
