Wouldn't it be nice if you could just choose armor bonuses for specific parts of your mech(ie. Left torso, center torso, etc.) like all those nice inherent quirks that most mechs have? It would give so much more choice and variation than a weird, cumulative percentile for the mech as a whole.

And can we call "skills" something else? Like quirks, or mods? I feel it's a little more appropriate for a "mod" to be applied to a mech, rather than a "skill" be taught... :)

Especially for survival. I have a hard time believing that I "taught" my mech to take shots like a champ... ;)
