Boys ive nearly made it to T1! I have absolutly no right being in there but im getting close now. I don't think im a pure potato player but I still derp and make bad movement calls all the time.

Really dont think the tiers are all they are cracked up to be.

Yeah, I have a few more games to go before i hit the wall of Tier 1. Ugh...

They parachute into a guarded base and start a killing spree, I mean invert the roles there (player as Iraqi at an American base), and you might see what I mean if you didn't already. Posted Image

At least he found a weapon of mass destruction though, using those wallhacks are clearly a war crime.

Funny video, but just weird.

Plenty can still go wrong...

Sheesh...they really haven't learned their lesson with that horrible AI...The VIP Atlas would seem right at home in that game...

Let's see if history is repeating itself over and over again as PGI attempts to figure out what a "matchmaker" is....

The old "Elo" system was originally a "band-aid." It was something they slapped together and even put in the announcements it was temporary. Wrong...minimally viable product is minimally viable. It became the norm.

Two biggest problems with that matchmaker was how PGI started new players in the middle of the range and progression was based on your TEAM's ability to win or lose ( this is where the phrase "the better you are, the more you carry" came from).

Today, we've got PSR. Top of the heap is Tier 1. It takes, what, three days to hit T1 maybe? Doesn't matter...it's just an experience bar. Matches are still put together with a predicted winner and loser, so progression is at least partially based on team performance. And the matchmaker has really loose definitions of "population" based on whatever dream state PGI is in at any given time. So, what's the difference?

Face it, they're completely incapable of separating the population based on.....well, anything, apparently. So accept it and move on. You don't want to play with new players, join a 12 man of experienced people. The rest of us are swimming in the murky waters of the solo gene pool. Keep that in mind when you come play in our pool.

My last few games had good results for me, but the wait times are getting to be too long. Got to say that also works as a Catch-22 on its own, as it discourages me from playing and so I end up playing another game that does not test my patience on the waiting queue. If I think that is happening to a lot of other people, then these people will be discouraged from the game further and thinning the numbers even further. Its a snowball fail effect.

I don't play on US evening time, but on Oceanic evening time, so you don't have a lot of players in the US server and have to rely on the Oceanic server.

Population is low , every day i have games with the same people over and over again.

That is to be expected if you play in the same region at similar times consistently through your day to day gaming, you will be seeing a lot of the same names pretty frequently, play on a different region at 1 in the morning etc, you will see there are many active players spread over timezones and regions.

I am not saying the population is massive, just that seeing the same names like that might not mean what you think it does.

I frequently see the same people over the whole crazy span of times that I play at, but I also see names I have never seen before very consistently, whether they are new players or just new accounts/names is a different story.

For many weeks, its been pretty obvious new tier 5 players are being put into matches with Tier 1 and 2. There is no real wait time outs causing this. Drops occur within seconds.

The reason I say obvious are things like a bushwacker pilot not using 3MG when a firestarter is face hugging and all internals...instead uses its one ml. People trying mpl's for the first time and talking about it. Some people are clearly way outperforming others. Usually a few mechs on each side are scoring sub 75pts.

Others seeing this too? It's nice scoring more than 600-700 damage every round with any mech including lights....and this can't be a good experience for many.

I'm hoping Matchmaker is bugged out and we get PGI to fix it this time. I'm hoping its not due to population drop. This isn't some complaint that Tiering isn't perfect. We all know that. This is well beyond normal tier skill variety.

Unfortunately, I suspect it's due to low population.

I know I see the same people when I drop in the higher tiers, and when my GF drops in the lower ones.. Same names, some of which I know are T1 cose' I know them from the forums..

It's not supposed to happen, but it does..

Oh here we go with the cool stories about population ... again. I've already shown with math and sh!t that 24 people is all you ever need for a balanced 12 v 12 match. Regardless of their skill, tiers or whatever.

MM is simply not doing its job. End of story.
