A word of advice to new players:

Don't ever open a supply cache. Ever.

Why would you give such a bad advice to (new) players?

Btw, your little clip proves nothing! Who knows, you might have gotten 2 mechs, couple of mc and c-bills out of the caches you sold.

In my experience you get way more out of the caches than you put in.

You sir, suck at the crate opening game. One should only open crates that have overwhelming number of desirable goods in them, and sell the rest. I, on the other hand, got two mechbays yesterday from just two crates, because I know how to play the crate game. Posted Image

This.

Or more precisely:
A crate with a common chance 50 MC reward is VERY lucrative. The key costs 25 MC and you have a pretty high chance to get 50 MC back. Or something more valuable.
I have a simple rule:
Only open stuff with direct MC rewards in it. I even got the 1000 MC reward once and you can finance a LOT of keys (I know: 40) with that.

Anything else, that doesn't have at least 3 really interesting things in it (MC, keys and mechbay if you need them) goes directly into the CB-recycler.

Those that Derek sold with 50 MC and 3x Keys were actually pretty lucrative. It was a waste to sell them.
Guess you just gotta understand how probability works. No way around that.

Caches are a waste of MC. I bought 10 keys, nothing of value won. RNG bad luck? Don't care, not wasting my money. I'm getting better stuff from this grab bag event.

EDIT: And I was selective with what caches I opened.

+1 to this.

I open probably 20% or less of the crates, but the ones I do I am willing to buy keys for (PGI has stopped passing out keys on most events now). I follow the simple thought process of trying making back my MC (through winning MC, keys or mechbays) and then some.

1. 50 MC is a common and wins a lot it seems. If you have 2 common items and 50 MC is one of them.. open it. You generally won't lose MC over time doing this and it is a free shot at the rarer items, mechbays,Mechs

2. If it's 500 or 1000 MC open it. I haven't hit those yet....but the risk/reward is worth far more than the sure 50k c-bills for selling
3. If it has 2 commons that aren't the 50 MC, don't bite (unless it has the huge MC amounts as a rare chance)...you are nearly certainly going to get those jump jets or that omnipod arm

Such system is just an insult to players. MC for CHANCE. Better to play in casino. Got random trash from 20+ crates just testing the system.

I'll hang on to loot crates that have things I like in them just in case I win a key from an event. Other than that, I sell most of the crates I get and I don't bother buying keys.

To each their own though. I am sure some people love the gambling aspect of it (like a little mini game), but that just isn't for me.

Supply caches are for suckers. Just sell them, take your free 50,000 C-bills.

I've also hear folks call it: "the box of broken dreams".

That one cracked me up.

Well I've had 1000MC and a mech (albeit it was a vindicator) from caches.

The one that annoys me is I had 3 of the same supply cache and three times I got the clan ac2 from it. What's the odds for the same result?

The Mario Paint music makes this the best thread of 2017. Shut down the forums. That is all.

Don't open a crate unless you actually want the common items.

This.

The only time I ever open a crate is when the rare items are desirable AND I can make use of most of the common items.

If four or five things available appeal to me I open it. I have MC I won from events so I bought a few keys. Not sure I would spend actual money on MC to buy keys though.
