Well, Rule 34 is probably why they had to have Res. 34.

Here's the thing... That legislation they are voting to remove? It was only passed in Oct of 2016 and won't go into effect until Dec 2017. So really, nothing is changing from what is currently allowed or illegal under FTC telecom rules.

The FCC's rules, which were passed in October in what was billed as a rare victory for privacy advocates, had set limits on how Internet providers could use that information, seeking to give consumers more control over the data they generate as they traverse the Web on their smartphones and computers. They were scheduled to go into effect in December 2017.

I understand that, but the issue to me is that they're claiming "this isn't the FCC's job" while removing the provisions that have yet to take affect without providing a plan on the hand off. Also at the same time they're trying to deny the FCC from ever having the authority to prevent this.

I can't see how this benefits actual people, I only see it helping corporations, which is not why they were put in office.

You figure the government is spying on us. Kinda a given. But what I don't like is companies stealing and selling private information to other companies. It's one thing for government agencies to keep things under the table and only using it in cases where it's needed. Another thing for private companies to do it. They probably do already! But at least they have to be discrete about it. If companies can publically infringe on our privacy, it's only a hop and a skip to the next thing they sell off to corporate interests.
