It's easy to shoot enemies. If you got an AC just pepper away. Lasers? beam-me-up-scotty! LRMs? **** you in particular -- and so on and so forth. There are other playstyles, like dedicate spotters or narcers, others cap, etc. etc. It's not canon, rather i'm just engaging in casual discussion.

But here's an idea, "Medic" Mechs, or at least equipment that will simulate the "Field Medic" role, but they're engineers that repair mechs instead. These equipment would require dedicated hardpoints like [1U] or "Utility".

Quote

Armor-Welder

Micro | Small | Medium | Large - AW
Tonnage: 2/3/4/5
Slots: 1
Range: 45m
Armor Points/sec: 1/2/3/4
Ammo/ton: 64

Basically, this acts like an even shorter-range Flamer, but as opposed of dealing damage, it simply replenishes armor points. It doesn't work on destroyed components, or fixes already destroyed equipment.

Ammo is literally 64 points of armor each ton.

Quote

Water-Cannon

Micro | Small | Medium | Large - WC
Tonnage: 0.5/1.0/1.5/2.0
Slots: 1
Range: 90m
Heat Dissipation/sec: 1.00/1.67/2.33/3.00
Ammo/ton: 50

This acts a reverse of Flamer, that as opposed of raising the battlemech heat, it lowers it instead by temporarily increasing head-dissipation. Each ammo/ton can dissipate 50 heat.

These are just ideas on my head. I was just wondering if the community would be open with the idea of what remotely feels like Field Medic.

Healing mechs? I'm fine if they added destructible repair bays (key word is destructible here so it isn't abused), but walking healing mechs wouldn't translate too well with the game. Now having AI controlled repair vehicles for specialty game modes? I'm more than OK with that idea especially if PGI made some kind of invasion mode to support it.

Same thing goes with cargo quad mechs and mobile rearming stations. Would add some really nice flavor to AI scripted scenarios (but I'm pipe dreaming what could have been).

No medic healers in Mechwarrior. All the things you named can be mitgated with proper pilot discipline. Yes I said it discipline, thats what this game comes down to. Knowing when to poke, where to poke, and move in at the right time. If you do that, aint no one going to be able to pepper you with an ac. I have seen this kind of poking in invasions, when done right, its almost damn near impossible to hit the other guy when they are doing this action.

As for the field base in mechwarrior lore, it was put in MW4, but even in that game it took a decent amount of time to repair your mech. Even more so the field base could be destroyed. Currently I think there is two maps that could support field repair bases for mechs. Honestly i do not think the majority of the population could be trusted to use such equipment properly and effectively for there team. You would have rookies repairing every time they took a little bit of damage. It would be chaos.

In the end its a bad idea on both counts.

You must be speaking of those healing mages and monks in CoD and BF.

That's Cazidin or worse levels of ideas Please no. I want repair bays as a "Yeah, not a great plan, but I love them" thing, but the ability for mechs to repair each other? NOPE

Hell yeah. Awesome idea,

Also we should have a brown note gun that plays a loud continuous noise everyone on the map can hear.

And a kamikaze nuke that destroys both teams instantly and results in match draw no matter what.

And an AFK mode, where your mech plays a lude animation while you are off doing something fun.
