Greetings Mechwarriors,

You liked my Lego Bushwacker so that gave me the confidence to try designing a Vulture.
I went for the MW4 version of the Vulture because it promised the best results since its original design is also blocky compared to the Classic Battletech or MWO version.

Yes I am fully aware that some of you hate this version of the Vulture. Sorry guys, but my skill level is not that good to attempt a MWO version.

Mostly complete, but still some stuff to do:
-Need to strenghten the hip connections
-Need to add articulation to the knees

Any feedback is welcome

Stuff that is finished:
-Center torso
-Right and left torso
-Feet
-Lower legs

Stuff to do (but only if articulation is required):
-Arms / Weapons pods
-Knee connections
-Hip connections
-The rotating platform that connects the legs to the center torso

Any feedback is welcome

Wow! I just love how closely it resembles the MW4 Vulture!:

What's wrong with the MW4 Mad Dog? It's a pretty cool looking deviation from the standard chassis.

I hate the chin turret on it.

Haters gonna hate.

There are plenty who will piss and moan if you do the MWO or TT version, also. Do what you can or prefer.

Looks awesome. I don't know enough about lego building to give structural input, but visually, you hit a home run.

And yet, the chin turret, and the much more sensible arm weapons, are what many of us like about that version.

I love the arms, and missile racks, I'm just not in love with the chin turret, even if it does make more sense, especially for anti-infantry weapons.

truth to tell, that was one of my favorite aspects of MW4... though tbh, I found them to be a relatively lousy mech in the game. Argus was a waaaaaaaaaaaay better 60 tonner.

I remember my front gun use to get blown off first all the time. Then the torsos were such a big target.

I also recall it being a very hot running mech no matter how you ran it.

It was the trailer that made it an instant favorite for me, just like the previous titles like MW3 that had the Atlas, Vulture, Mad Car, Thor. I saw the trailers of MW2 but I never played it.

About my Lego model and its structure mentioned by Bishop Steiner:

I have a building technique that involves using frames (window and door). Basically you can replace heavy solid brick pieces with these frames to add about 90% of the original strenght with fraction of the weight. It took me 4 months to finish the Bushwacker before I accidentally found this solution, playing with my daughter and her kids Lego sets. Without this frame solution, I could not press the torso together properly because the pressure from my hand just broke the model to bits.

If you look at the side shot picture of the Vulture zoomed in via flickr, look at the side of the mech just below the cockpit and the grey strip. The LRM racks do a great job in masking it but that whole section is made up of nothing but door frames and window frames. I wanted to use the same technique on the side torso as well but sadly I made it so complicated, that I had to build it using solid bricks to its very heavy on both sides.

The only part of the mech that is not designed to be strong is the connection between the hip and the rotating platform under the CT. I have multiple ideas I would like to try but they all involve reducing the visual accuracy of the hips. The reason I went with this solution was, so I could make the deadline to enter the Lego mech contest hosted by Rekkon.

For the record--I forgot to say this before--very well done OP!!!

The MW4 Vulture design is the only one that triggers me. Well, that and the MWO Summoner (blech). That's about as lorewarrior as I get :(

Chin turrets are AWESOME!

If the Vulture* in MWO had one, i'd buy it in a second! (Despite my "No Clan mechs" rule)

Wouldn't it be cool AF to have a chin turret on the Wolverine too? Like a proper one, capable of following the Arm-crosshair

Most especially if you tried to arm it with lasers "AND" missiles. Though, the MWO mad dog is kinda similar. Either you boat one or the other, but can't be too efficient in both.

Truth. Shame it didn't stack SRMs as well as the MWO version, or it might have been more fun. But by the time it was available, I already had an Awesome, which wrecked face with 3xPPC and a C-SRM6, and so I usually relegated the Vulture to Casey, and to make him useful filled it with LRMs.

You know what would make this model even more accurate? Using a Lego Snowspeeder cockpit instead! It’s sooo much closer to the cockpit of the in-game model! Try it!

Then again, it doesn’t quite 100% fit. I think you should try making a custom cockpit!
