G'evening all,

Here's something that I've been pondering for a while now.

Now,to preface I was one of the old toppies who had to read magazines to get news about any game developments, so I feel that I have a bit of patience.

However, what with the open-book development revolution brought on by the interwebs, I have been drawn in a tad.

That being said, is anyone else curious to hear more news regarding Mech 5 Mercs?

We've heard pretty much zilch since the announcement at MechCon, and I'm a bit afeared that it's suffered the same fate as the last MW5 Mercs attempt.

I need my single-player mech action! I have serious withdrawal symptoms for it!

Nothing yet. Personally I wonder if PGI is gonna overstretch themselves with the whole mercenary style gameplay, as attractive as it sounds. Perhaps a more linear gameplay would be easier.

This games not coming out until next year, so I doubt we'll see much anytime soon.

I wouldn't expect anything substantial until PAX West at the very earliest.

I'm sure it will be as great as duke nukem forever. I can't wait to play it on commodore 64 with pgi's vast extensive programing skills. In the mean while i have an old 32 bit win 7 sp 1 laptop to retro game, play the old mechwarrior titles with my gravis eliminator pro joystick. Next month i get a gtx 660 video card to finally make my old 2012 pc work again so i can use steam for skyrim and mgs5tpp untill i can save up for a new $900 budget pc. By then I'm sure steam will have mw5 mercs on sale for half price with steam workshop and vr support.

As far as mw5 mercs I'd doubt pgi would even try to do a playable shareware demo or tutorial. The best demo I've ever played was the metal gear solid for the original ps. I played so many hours on the heliport tormenting those guards. best of all the demo got me into the story ending on a cliff hanger wich made me go buy the full two disk metal gear solid for $60.

Without any other infos its just vaporware. That vid they showed was pre alpha footage. So they must have been working on it before the announcement. But after that all we have is a website with no further updated informations, no developers teasing on any social media platforms. If you want to actually sell stuff you might wanna make people aware of it, just saying.

My money is on it ending up vaporware, just being used to squeeze the last bit of blood out of the whales still here.

MWO was slated to be "vaporware" back in the day as well. Recommend you stay away from the Race track dude. ;)

I hope its a long in depth campaign. Though I question whether or not there will be too much "pay for more content" in it. Hope they just do like every other game and ask for like $5-$15 bucks for a DLC.

No in game real money shenanigans. Leave that to MWO, I'm ok with that here, in a campaign, not so much.

Open-book development is more for crowdfunded games, where consumers are sort of "investing" in the game rather than making an actual purchase.

As far as I know, they're self-publishing MW5 so they probably don't feel obligated to make regular development updates.

I don't really expect to see anything new until this year's mechcon.

If PGI wants to be loved
Modding tools, or at least open stats and whatnot to adjust

If PGI is going to do what we expect:
DLC, locked game
DRM (plzno)

Future Campaigns, like the Clam invasion, or a Jade Falcon/GB run. Eat both Nostalgia, and make use of already existing models

so OP download MW4:Mercs and play the campaign. PGI has all the resources already pretty much done for MW5, art, mechs, map elements, possibly even some music. They have shown they are improving at A.I. so it shouldn't take long to make a game out of their own assets.

I do not expect any news until MechCon 2017. I do not expect the game to be released in 2018. What developer of modern games actually hits their target release date? 2020 seems to be a hard cap to how long they can develop the game because their license to use the IP expires then. Maybe they will get it done in 2019 but I would be very surprised if it is done in 2018.

I would be happy to eat my words. PGI, please prove me wrong!
