Instead of only having a fixed deck tonnage for Clans and IS, how about balancing the Decks per player ?

The general idea :
- The better you play, the less tons per Deck you have available.
- To make up for it : The better you play, the higher your bonus multiplier.

Example of formula : Each point of "average KKMD per invasion match" could be worth -5T and +5% bonus score.

One reason for this change would be to balance random groups vs units in invasion mode, since a strong unit would typically be filled with players with a noticeably higher "average KKMD per invasion match", which would then lower the tonnage they can bring.

PS : The starting values for IS and Clan decks could remain different.

So, someone could pick 4x ACH and go against a bunch of pugs in assaults and get a huge bonus for backstabbing people?

LOL no. The last thing we need is potatoes piloting assaults, getting stomped by mediums/lights, and then lights and mediums getting nerfed/resized because people cry. We already have people piloting heavies and assaults more because lights (especially) and mediums (compared to heavies) aren't as competitive as heavies and assaults. EG: The gap between a 55 tonner and 65 tonner is pretty pronounced.

If I am being constructive, PGI should just avoid trying to balance the game based on tonnage, period. Tonnage for CW should be equal. On that note, PGI should also stop trying to balance skill, and instead make sure that at least the mechs/maps are balanced.

You didn't understand :
- You don't get any bonus for bringing less tons in your deck.
- You get a "max tonnage allowed" reduction for having a higher then average "KKMD per invasion", which is compensated by a fixed bonus that is not related to how many tons you bring in your deck.

It's more about removing tons from good players, then adding tons to bad players.

And let's say an average player has an average of ~2 KKMD per invasion and a good one has an average of ~4 KKMD per invasion : With the formula I used the good player would only have 10T less for his decks, which based on the -10T Clan deck nerf would only make for a small but noticeable difference.

So that would be something like 255T IS or 230T Clan for the average player, compared to 245T IS or 220T Clan for the good player.
