in the current system, we have to unlock the basic stuff on 3 variants of the same mech to get elite level access.

in the new node system, will we need the other 2 mechs?

If not, can we sell our crap variants and transfer their XP/SP to another?
Also, what will this do to mech bundle sales?

in the new system you do not need multiple varients to get the Mech to its full potential.

there is nothing stopping you from selling off varients you do not like.

transfering XP requires MC to convert it to GXP, the per varient skill points are locked to that varient and I could not see any way to transfer it to another.

I doubt it would do anything to Mech bundle sales, because while occaisionaly there is a superior varient or a far inferior varient usualy there are multiple viable varients and the "best" is often down to persional preferance rather than 1 being outright superior to the other (usualy) 5

While you most likely don't need them for level up any more, you may find MECH variants you did not care for previously to be very different given the new Skill tree choices and given the new weapons coming. The meta should change quite a bit with Light and heavy PPCs or MRMs or heavy machine guns.

I am thinking this is going to be a very different game. I am thinking you may have wanted to keep a variant that may now be a star rather than meh in the old system.

In addition, if you want to sell additional variants after the ST is live AND want to have XP of that variant, you would need to convert the XP first with using MC.

Empty mech that you want to sell
-> Assign the accumulated HXP of the variant to this mech
-> Convert XP to GXP with MC.

I think the extra HSP (historic skill points) can not be converted back to XP, but just provide you the means of unlocking skills whenever you have a mech of that variant, similar to the HXP.

thx for the input everyone.
I did not consider the potential respec possibilities.
just thinking a mech that sucks now will be a mech that always will.
but you are right, lots of new weapons and possiblities.

happy hunting
