That's the dumbest thing ever said for as much likes as you got. A bad mech is a bad mech, who cares if it's omni? No on complains that the IS heroes were trash mechs. I guess they are Omnis too?
But alas, I am not here to debate you whether 4 srm + ecm SHC or 5 srm SHC is op or not. My point is, people whine about mechs are too good. People whine about mechs being too poor. Had PGI gave the IICs god like hardpoints, guess who will then complain?
SO IT DOESN'T F-ING MATTER IF OMNI BALANCE IS DIFFERENT THAN BATTLEMECHS.
(and you know what, i can skip everyone else, but I am so going to look you up... give me 20 min)
Allow me to explain.
With a Battlemech, the set of hardpoints you get is permanent. This means that you're going to have some inherent strengths...and some inherent weaknesses. You have to deal with both the GOOD
and the BAD aspects of your variant when you're a Battlemech.
When you're an Omnimech, you can swap around your hardpoints as you wish. Thus, if your variant has a bad hardpoint layout, you can fix this and give yourself a good layout instead. With heroes in particular, this means that having a few bad pods on the hero is not a disadvantage since you can remove them if you want to. If even
one hero pod is stronger than C-Bill pods, you can just combine this premium hero pod with other C-Bill pods to create a more powerful mech than somebody who only has C-Bill pods.
In other words, hero Omnimechs have no hardpoint-based weaknesses compared to C-Bill variants of the same chassis. Hero Omnis can only
gain compared to corresponding C-Bill Omnis.
It's not the same thing at all.
PS: When you look up my posting history you're going to find me basically re-explaining what I said in this post. Save yourself some time.
