Hello all,
I am not sure this is the best or proper place to post this, but here goes.
So I have been playing since beta I guess. My favorite mech from day one is the HBK 4G. I know its not the greatest, but its the most fun for me, in its various forms I try.
So since I am more a play for fun, guy and worry about the meta later guy I am thinking of having a a light, medium (HBK), heavy and Assault that would all have been found to be used by one house.
So I guess we start with which factions used the Hunchback (IS only), and then find out what they used in the other three classes. I have very little Battletech knowledge, I just have played Mechs from Mechwarrior 2 onward.
I am thinking from what I have read House Kurita is might be a starting point, but am unsure.
Thoughts from the experts?
Thanks

Just drop 4 HBK-4Gs and have fun, you won't regret it.

Everyone used Hunchback, the HBK-4G is a common enough mech in the TRO to be the base unit, meaning every house and Merc unit had access to them.

For such a question you want to up two sources, the MUL and the RATs.
The Master Unit List will tell you what Mech was used by what faction, and in what era, in great detail. Here is the link for the Hunchback -4G
http://www.masteruni...unchback-hbk-4g
However, it tells you nothing about how common a Mech was in this faction/era. This is why you need the Random Assignment Table. They are meant for gamers creating typical forces of a faction. MWO is set in 3053 (though the exact date is debatable, we are definitely at a point before 3055), so it would be best to use the RATs of Era Report 3052. However, in a few weeks MWO will enter the FCCW-era (3062-3067).
Anyway, the RATs show that the Hunchback was very common in the armies of the Capellan Confederation, the St.Ives-Compact, the Combine, the FRR, and the FWL. But at the same time, it was also present in very other army, be it house, merc, corporate, or private.
As Metus Regem said, the Hunchback is truly a base unit, as are many of the original 3025-designs. You can use it for whatever you wish.
There are other Mechs which are more specifically tied to a faction; I cringe whenever I see a Bushwacker with a Draconis Combine decal (for example).

House Steiner is also noted for their fondness of the design, as it fits their big, blunt and unapologetic combat doctrine. It was moderately common though in all Houses and Periphery realms.
Coventry Metalworks produced the 4 Series and the later 7S for the LCAF/LAAF.
