Charging only works against a pure LRM boat. For those of us who run mixed builds and directly support the brawler line, life ain't that simple, and the rushing light may quickly lose a leg.

I dropped with him last night, in fact.

But next time we drop together, im making you suit up a lurm boat. I wanna see munitions where your mouth is, James. =)

I'd love to accommodate you my friend, but I don't have my Catapult any longer. I sold that right after CB ended and moved to the Phoenix mechs. I had to pay for the customizations. Posted Image

I have full Radar derp on my mechs and that's honestly enough. Because we got some really sweet ammo skills in the firepower tree and also because I run clan mechs with max or near max heat related skills, I've dropped a heat sink on my builds and shave off a half ton of ammo from a weapon system and add AMS.

I'm just mad I can't put an AMS on my Warrant Timberwolf hero and keep the 8/8 pod bonus for agility. The stock pods doesn't have a mount. The trick is to map the AMS on/off toggle on a key and quickly use it at the right time for saving ammo for the mid to late game. In the early game, your position and cover should be enough for protection.

Only reason I hate lrms is when I get a good one on one battle and then the lrms show up.

I really wish lrms we're los and they would buff them into a useable weapon.

I have several reasons to hate LRM's, but this is one of the top 3. I LIKE to get the drop on a single enemy and force a duel where neither one of us is getting noticed or helped for a half minute or more. Making a single combat session happen is FUN. And then the LRM's come sailing in from 800 meters away over tons of cover.

Whatever.

Death of DPS builds. Good one. =)

The only thing that has changed with LRM boats is Radar Deprivation. If you take all 5 nodes of it on the skill tree, you cancel locks just like before. If you take 3 or less, they can get a salvo into you after youre in cover. If you take none... 2-3 salvoes.

LRM pilots have noticed this and lurms are more common this week. The weapon system will ramp back down once players get more comfy with the skill tree and the new meta. And inexperienced (or poor) LRM players will once again face the ugly truth that firing at max range into mountainsides while getting isolated and flanked isn't all its cracked up to be.

Yeah, I think way fewer people are grabbing radar deprivation than what we had pre-skill tree. Before it was just 1 module slot away and you're good to go. Now you gotta go deep into the Sensor tree to get access to them. Target Decay on the other hand not only starts unlocking skills sooner, but takes overall fewer skills in the sensor class to complete. Combine all this with the general arrogance this community has about LRMs and I wasn't surprised in the least that people are having more trouble with LRMs these days.

I don't actually think the number of LRM-boats have increased, they're just more effective and noticeable now. You can see the same effect when it comes to maps. You will quickly notice LRMs on maps like Polar highlands where they are very effective, but you will hardly notice they are on the other team on maps like Mining Collective where they are less effective. The number of LRM boats haven't changed, just their ability to reach out and annoy you.

Push don't work if LRM boats remain a loose formation. Focus fire with LRMs is very easy.

However, there is even a better option.

Simply field in ECM mechs.

4xCERLL Hellbringer is king against LRM boats.

The LRM rain is abundant because ECM has been nerfed and people are stubbornly refusing to take AMS, radar deprivation, and other anti-LRM measures. And so until they do ... <maniacal Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image>

No I don't have to trust you, because I know that that system of play doesn't actually work when you play competitive teams.

I think I need to remind people that this LRM "discussion" is mostly probably relevant only to the solo QP queue, unless of course the crying has spread to the group queue as well. Posted Image

I love interfering with players involved in single combat. That's almost always 1 less enemy to worry about after a few seconds. Posted Image

I hated LRMS so much that I simply switched to just playing with PPCs exclusively. Some might consider that moronically boring, but that actually fixed all my frustrations with the game.

One way to fight annoyances, is to become even more of an annoyance (if you can aim well that is :) )
