Anyone have an idea of why PGI doesn't just do an in-place switch of the Patcher for the Portal? I find this very confusing, as it would avoid bothering people with what could turn into a potential total reinstall.

Does this have any affect on the Steam client? Which would be better to use? I've used it on Steam since it debuted and would like to continue.

This portal garbage does not detect my installation. I've never had a single issue with the old launcher. Why couldn't they update the old launcher rather than having a separate install and this mess? This is giving me a headache and is not worth the effort at all.

Anyone else notice that the patcher stalls at 21 of 1050?
