So Gauss No Longer Crit, Right...?

I have been headshot more in the past week than I have in the entire time since they changed the Atlas cockpit to just the eye.
Probably headshot 6-8 times over the last 3+ years (not counting shutdowns...because I have not been headshot while shutdown at all in the past week)...this week it must be close to 10 times now that I have been headshot with only Dual Gauss that do not crit.

Took a minute. They can only single crit and do half normal critical damage.
That still means up to 32.25 ((15+15/2×.15)×2) damage per dual gauss hit. That shouldn't be able one shot a max head armor mech, but it's close.

And that at max head armor, you only get 1 Crit (because >15)
So, 31.125 should be max theoretical damage

Not on the Gauss
Dev stated TCs don't change it either, but they have a special CritChanceIncrease
critChanceIncrease="0.17,-1.0,-1.0"
So, 42% chance to 1 Crit, 0% for all others

So, it should be technically impossible for a dual gauss to headshot with 17-18 head armor...correct?
Have to guess it was other weapons.

Well, it's that or ammo explosions... and it's honestly not as hard to trigger them these days (despite the % not being changed, it's that their decreased health lends to explode more often vs anything).

That would say "ammo explosion" then, right?

Now that I look at it... it seems that Skeletal Density doesn't apply to the cockpit, so you get 18 structure there no matter what. Now I wonder, does Armour Hardening also not apply to the cockpit? Because I had 12 armour, and with my tree I should have had 31.5 hitpoints on the cockpit, and that went away in a single dual gauss *thunk*. Chances of me getting headshot for the first time in like 6 months AND it rolling a crit with the nerfed gauss crits? Dat's kinda crazy.

I had plenty of instances in which my "fresh" (by paperdoll) side torso was blown out from an alpha that should have only been able to take ~ half of the HP. I have seen several people reporting this, so it might aswell be an paperdoll issue.

Its likely NOT just a double gauss as few players just fire those things alone. Lots mix them with PPCs of course. I prefer to run them with AC/2s (same projectile speed) but a tactic some employ is to trigger a strike on your face along with the gauss shot. The gauss strips the armor and the strike blows your exposed head structure.

Theoretically yes, but I think the opposite is true. I believe on simultaneous hits, if the armor is breached, it rolls for crits for both weapons.
