Running Battletech Like Builds

Well after the battletech beta came out I couldn't help but spruce up some of my mechs to have "authentic" feeling. Basically giving them non meta like loadouts, putting in only 1-2 tons of ammo and cases Posted Image. Surprisingly some of them have been doing real well (All Solo Q Posted Image). Just had to share.

Heres a fun one I tried out and did well in.

Oki, so I have to ask looking at that build your damage potential before crits is 2x115 ( 2t IS srm ammo) + 1x180 ( 1t lrm ammo) + 2x150 ( 2t ac5 ammo ) and I really am not sure how to go about mg damage.. but would have to presume that unless noone was targeting and shooting you the prime of the damage was not comming from those so:

adds to about ~700 dmg + mg damage , and that is if there are no misses , so for those damage per games you ether had some god like crits or you are packing 2x arty/air strike , and/or you have the magazine/missile rack quirks for more ammo-damage potential?

Still not bad for such a build, but do spill the beans on the details :) .

Yeah 1 air strike and 1 arty.

The air striked missed completely. And the Arty Strike got low damage, basically hit one mech only and it dies early on from it. So maybe ~75 damage from it. I think most of it was from crits tbh. Im as surprised as you I nailed that damage.

No ammo quirk, I only have the one 7.5% chance missile crit node.

That's some effective damage/ammo you're doing, especially if double strike missed

Actually i was wrong, the air strike did miss, but the arty strike his 2 mechs, one died early the other took a few hits, so maybe ~150 damage from that strike if im being generous. But yeah i really aimed my shots and a lot of it was close up so all the SRMs usually hit.

I do the same thing for my video Series called " Personality & Lore Builds" where I use the original builds used by the pilots that use them. I go into the lore of the pilot and then go over the build then play the mech in game play and its hard as HELL. Overall I get more enjoyment with those loadouts than the standard Meta ones being used.

Also remember that you get the damage for an arm if you blow the side torso it's attached to. OP's first match has eight components destroyed, which means he probably got a few ST+Arm boosts that way.

Soviet is quite good, and having dropped with him in quick play and faction I can vouch for his damage potential. Interesting to see these lore loadouts put into MWO.

I love playing the Dire Wolf-Prime build , its surprisingly effective. The quartet of ERLL's deals damage from any distance while the UAC-5's provide backup but they are a bit light on ammo so your shots have to count. The 4 MPL's do work up close when its hard to maintain the ERLL beam duration with the DW's terrible twist speed. The LRM-10 is mostly pointless though but it can nab a few points of damage.

Would UACs + ER-MLs + LRMs count as "battletech like" builds? Cause i run those quite frequently.

yeah, limit usually is 1-2 tons of ammo per weapon depending on tonnage of mech and basing off some stock loadouts. My rule of thumb is if its an LRM 5, 10, 15, 1 ton of ammo. If it's a LRM 20, 2 tons.

The Vindicator and Wolverine, Oh boy that was a challenge do get 700. And I could do 1k in the Archer but burned out for the weekend with the battletech builds :D
