It occurs to me that if the heat scale on the HUD actually gave the heat cap number rather than a percentage it would make things easier.
It would show the effect of additional heat sinks on the cap.
It would show the effect of skills on the cap
It would show the immediate effect of losing a heatsink in battle.
This immediate feed back would be nice.
it would make calculating how many times you can fire something easier as well. As all the heat is given in numbers not percentages.
Also instead of the infinity sign at the side of lasers how about putting the amount of heat the weapon produces (no reason why it can't be on all weapons).
In practical game play terms it would make no difference but I think it would make things easier to understand whilst in game.

Thinking on this some more numbers in the HUD would be useful:
Your current radar range
How long you will hold target after leaving line of sight (assuming no enemy modifiers).
How long you will be held as a target after leaving line of sight (assuming no enemy modifiers).
(i know I am a very naughty boy)
Current dissipation rate in heat per second (current number of heat sinks).

Maybe my memories are a bit fuzzy but wasn't "Current dissipation rate in heat per second (current number of heat sinks)." shown in the old MW2 titels buy a second bar overlaying your heat?
That could be indeed usefull.

Changing the giant OVERRIDE ENGAGED sign to a smaller, more screen efficient symbol in a different location on screen.
Possibly changing the "incoming missile" warning to a less invasive screen warning, some kind of incoming missile lock blip.
More pronounced visuals of engine condition, particularly structure condition, there should be pretty clear differences between the critical armor damage/level, and the critical structure level of components.
Mostly just change up the many top of the screen warning clutters, the one that says "Base under attack" is fine, but when you can't be sure if your base is being taken, a missile is incoming, your armor is critical, your override is engaged or all of the above without taking your eyes off target etc, it a bit annoying.

Also, when people are cooking themselves make the HUD hard to see because I seriously can not tell the difference between 80% heat and 90% until after I shut down from excessive heat. In MW4 the HUD has a ridiculous amount of heat stutter from 90% heat and it forces me to stop shooting because I can't see anything except what's in front of me.

I will happily swap Override engaged with NARC warning.
Also this missile lock circle is too obscuring specially when I am not zoomed.
Something less target obscuring will be welcomed.

Basically we all think a reworking of the HUD would be an idea worth exploring.
