Played a few games with double Gauss super fun in a brawl with a few MGs and MLs. watched one guy kill all 4 on the other team to with them. Going to be a fun weapon for sure. It actually does decent damage and range to.

50 points of pin point damage sounds brutal

Sounds cumbersome, slow, explody and low DPS. Not to mention 50 PPFLD is only at 180m.

Now apply it to 12 v 12, where games don't always turn into brawls.

shh. no one tell him about uacs.
no but seriusly practicly the only thing its good for is headshots. and that is a dead art
anything that can use heavy gauss cant use lfe. so instantly penalized. on top of a **** weapon system.

I found it cumbersome and unwieldy in a brawl. Especially if the terrain is a broken mess and your opponents are agile. I used 2xSnubs and the H-Gauss. I don't use macros so my shots don't normally sync up, which is good because of the H-Gauss' recoil. Though when it did line up the recoil sent the snub shots to who knows where.

It's got some promise. But so many limitations are tacked on. Very niche.

and sadly this,

which is why im personally advocating for HGauss and LBX20 to be reduced to 10Crits,
this would allow you to take them with a LFE for more weapons, as well as put them in some Arms,
Right now your forced to take them in your STs with an Standard Engine, which strips you of lots of Tonnage,
and having a Mech with180-270optimal that only goes 30-40kph, thats a problem,

ive gotten a MAL up to 50Kph but i only have 20Shots(2xHGuass) and 4ERSL(as backup weapons)
it was ok, but you are really pushing it, i could do 2xUAC20 +4ERML with a LFE going 58kph,

IDC how effective you think it is or isn't. Cause of the potential damage it can deal, I am not giving any Maulers a hug in the near future o.O

Not just because of the HGR but the new toys at its disposal it can bring some real pain.

heavy gauss needs to be limited to one charging up at a time

they should not allow combinations of weapons to do 50+ PPFLD.

that includes existing combinations like dual cgauss/dual cerppc which should also be nerfed.

in exchange for limiting it to 1 charging up at a time they could make it a much stronger weapon. and if knockdowns are readded they could even make heavy gauss knock mechs down when it hits them.

Agreed. And one dares use it at range with only 5 shots per ton.

36 tons + 8 tons of ammo does too + 1 tons of case(you arent telling me with straight face youre gonna brawl with 20dmg bomb strapped to your side without case)
For 50 dmg at 180m...

Why not go with 30 tons + 8 tons ammo + light engine possibility
to double tap for 80 dmg at 270m with easy followup with lasers.

Or better yet, get supernova strap 6 mpl, 2 lpl, put 325 xl and fill space with dhs.
Now you have 65 dmg at over twice the range.

or even better, get kdk3 strap 2 uac10 and 2 uac5
double tap for 60 dmg at 3 times the range...

If someone tells you he can twist out uac or pulse to arms at brawl range in anything bigger than 45 tonner, hes ******* lying.

no.

Effective range at 180M for 25 damage......

Goes all the way out to 810?

At 315M it does 2/3rds to half of it's original damage....

16.6^- x2= ~33.2....

12.5x2= 25.....

somewhere between 25-33.2 damage it does about 315m.....

810-180=630
630/25=25.2
1 dmg less per 25.2m

315-180=135
135/25.2=~5.3
19.7 dmg at 315m per heavy gauss.

Nothing to brag about when ac20 does 2 dmg less at 3 tons less + better ammo per ton(3 tons ac20 > 4 tons hgauss) + light engine + it doesnt explode.

I really think that the dual IS UAC/20 not having ghost is a lot more dangerous than dual Heavy Gauss, but still when you get on the wrong side of that 50 PPFLD it really hurts.

It is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed. There is absolutely no way the IS UAC20 should make it to live as is.

Why not?

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...94ccd57a379e026
this thing exists and delivers 60 dmg at 500m and no one batches an eye

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...279521d697a9d23
but this here?? oy vey shut it down.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b02b4640f590784
this here?? haram

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5436b4728711668
this?? perfectly fine.

I dont get logic behind ghost heat and irrational fear of 50 dmg on 100 tonner at 180m when this
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...08bb6c416bdfa29
delivers 45 at 330m over 0.9s and runs cool as breeze.

And what mechs would use it effectively? King Crab + Mauler?

I don't see any other mechs with bad armor or facetime to be able to do it well.

As it is heavy gauss is a fun toy, but it's a toy. You bring it when you want to screw around. You bring Uac 20s or lb20x's if you want to win.

In any actual 12v12 game against competent enemies you'll hear "that Mauler's dual heavy guass. Right shoulder first, then left." 3 seconds later "He's a stick, move on."

4v4 when everyone's experimenting with builds is not an ideal environment to test it. My dual AC20 catapult K-2 build from before future tech was released was more dangerous. It's only 10 dmg less on the alpha, can fire over 50% faster, move much faster, and doesn't have two giant bombs strapped to its sides.

And even with ghost heat, it can alpha 3 times before it needs to chain fire to be heat neutral.
