This mech must be added to our fleet!

http://battletech.wi...m/wiki/Ragnarok

The Ragnarok Mech was one of 2 lost tech Mechs discovered by the Word of Blake while on Helios. the other lost tech mech was known as Ymir. Both mechs had what is known as a "lava gun" which was a large 4 barreled cannon which fired large spheres of lava. In the game "Mechassault" this weapon was extremely devastating but at the cost of large amounts of heat. Another piece of lost tech that was unique to both mechs were the energy shield systems which protected against projectile weapons (in the game this did not include "splash damage"), However the shield system lasted for a very short period of time making the shield systems more of a survival tool. The original mechassault featured the shield as a purple bubble surrounding the mech, however is the sequel mechassault 2 the shield was changed to a "aqua" colored "skin" which conformed to the mech's shape and eliminated any real defensive capabilities. The Ragnarok mech was equipped with 2 gauss rifles and 4 long range missiles, where as the Ymir had auto cannons and medium range missiles.

The Ragnarok although extremely powerful is vulnerable as it is a huge target and extremely slow also it has less armor than Prometheus and Atlas. The special LosTech bubble shield also has long recharge and short duration despite being able to absorb any type of damage which balances the Ragnarok's special LosTech defense mechanism!

The Ragnarok Assault-class BattleMech is the ultimate 'Mech in the MechAssault video game series, named after the Norse Armageddon.<p class="toc" id="toc" style="font-family: "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13.3px; border: 1px solid rgb(170, 170, 170); background-color: rgb(249, 249, 249); padding: 5px; display: inline-block; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">

[1 Overview edit]

The Ragnarok is an Assault 'Mech that was developed and used by the Word of Blake. Little to nothing is known about the 'Mech's development. What is known, however, is that the Word of Blake produced this 'Mech in the hundreds, maybe thousands, but most were destroyed when a JumpShip crashed into the production facility, making the Ragnarok a rare sight on the battlefield.
Description[edit]

The Ragnarok is a very large Assault-class BattleMech. The 'Mech is tall with broad "shoulders" and a very humanoid shape. It is notable for its unique "Lava Gun", which is mounted on its shoulder; this unusual weapon launches three-shot volleys of an unknown superheated material. Its LosTechshield, when activated, makes the 'Mech nigh-invulnerable to all forms of damage for a few seconds at a time. The 'Mech is known to be extremely powerful and has been shown to be able to make quick work of most 'Mechs with ease. However, what the Ragnarok enjoys in firepower and shielding lacks appallingly in speed - and the slow recharge rate of the shields doesn't help either.
Armament[edit]

As mentioned above, the Ragnarok is extremely deadly at all ranges, but is more effective at medium to long range. Its LosTech shields also give it very good defensive properties.

Variants[edit] Trivia

  • In MechAssault 1, the shield is a spherical bubble type shield while in MechAssault 2, the shield wraps around the 'Mech. Additionally, the shield in MechAssault 1 only lasts for a few seconds but is capable of absorbing most damage while the shield in MechAssault 2 lasts longer but only reduces damage.
  • The shield in MechAssault 1 gradually weakens and gets dimmer under sustained fire.
  • The shield in MechAssault 1 can absorb all damage except for lava exposure and it can only reduce the damage from another lava gun.
  • The Ragnarok/Ymir is the only 'Mech to date that has two types of weapons that are capable of knocking over other Mechs.
  • In the Mech statistics screen in MechAssault 1, the Ragnarok's preview depicts it as having 4x Pulse Lasers, while in gameplay, the Mech only has the weapons described above. This technically makes it the only Mech to carry 4 weapons in the entire game.
  • The Ragnarok and Ymir 'Mechs have less armor than the Atlas and Prometheus 'Mechs.

Yes, lets add the non-existent "super special mech" that was "built in the THOUSANDS" but literally never appeared outside of a non-canon xbox game because a JumpShip, something that NEVER LEAVES THE JUMP POINT OF THE SYSTEM, CRASHED INTO A PLANET, loaded with "lostech" that's not even in the realm of possibility for BattleTech. Energy shields? Lava cannons? What is this, anime? Get out. Even ignoring the fact that MechAssault and this.... thing don't fit into the established lore in the slightest (before you argue that PGI's already introduced a homebrewed mech, even the Roughneck fits into the BT lore), just sit back for a moment and think about how gamebreaking this would be if it got added. The "Lava cannon" is supposedly more powerful than a Heavy Gauss, and the ability to become LITERALLY INVINCIBLE would be so utterly broken that it isn't even funny.

Glad the sensible AA guns have shot this idea down already.

On a side note I'd like to see an AI controlled Ares on the Escort mission, instead of FAtlas.

1x "Lava Gun"
2x Gauss Rifles
4x Javelin LRMs
1x Lostech Shield

Swap the "Lava Gun" for a Plasma Rifle or Plasma Cannon and the "Lostech Shield" for a Blue Shield or Shield and maybe we can talk Posted Image

+1.

But I do want it. As the VIP mech.

They can even keep the shield. If the VIP takes damage, the shield raises, increasing it's survivability but cutting it's speed down to 1/3 as it's reactor is drained of power.

It means that there would be incentive for lighter mechs to harass and slow the VIP - instead of the game mode we have now, which is skirmish... with a mobile weaponless turret kill minigame at the end for the surviving mechs.

While I remember it was a nice mech in MA and MA2 the thing was extremely easy to take out and runs very hot, the Ymir was the better option to take than the RGK, but still be able to made cannon if we change up the weapons loadout a bit.

And despite the salt that people spit out at this game, it be nice to see Alex's work on it since the thing have mix look of the Warhammer and Battlemaster to it and can almost be easily replicated (Javelin Missiles=SRM's, Hammer Heavy Missiles=LRM's) just need the Plasma rifle and be good. Then throw in the WoB into the game a faction and BOOM!!! RGK is ready t role out with whatever other WoB mechs they have.

A lava cannon would make no sense within MW, its being used against mechs that have the ability to walk through the stuff without taking any actual damage other than overheat, assuming heat rises to that level in the first place. It would basically be a large, inefficient flamer than has ammo.

That is called Plasma Rifle - 10dmg 10 heat - range of a AC10 plus ammo of a AC10.... in short a kind of IC Fusion drive as weapon. To have 3 shots would just make sound and visual effects better

But this is no ordinary Lava gun its pure destruction! Plus the developers could easily make it "effective"!

The plasma rifle is a separate weapon though, and is actually pretty fun in BT. It adds heat to the target, like a flamer or certain missile munitions. No ammo explosions either Posted Image

Edit: OH, I see what you were saying. Carry on.

I'd like the chassis, but the tech can stay behind as it doesn't fit into MWO.

Maybe replace the Lava gun with HPPC or something?

Yes to the chassis itself, no to the tech.

Also I'd like the Atlas II.

MA/MA2 were never canonical, not even close.

Which is even worse than the Battletech cartoon, which was a children's cartoon propaganda piece in the Inner Sphere. And canon.

So...no. In fact, those are made of pure anti-yes and would be obliterated utterly should even a hint of yes come in contact with them.
