For Clans:
Mad IIc is still strong, Supernova can laser vomit well. Clan heavies, the Ebon Jag and Hellbringer is still good, Night Gyr took a new nerf with the Gauss/PPC ghost heat link. Timberwolf plays kinda meh with the engine desink.
IS:
Mauler with 6x UAC2 is fun, Battlemasters are still ok, Warhammers are good, Grasshopppers are good, there's actually lots of choices.

I can't comment on proposed IS mechs because I don't own any.

I like getting in people's faces with a tonne of firepower so I'll be hitting up Annihilators, Linebackers, Hunstmans or Adders.
To each their own.

+1 for adder
everyone underestimates what little shts these things can be if you play hit and run. It can mount heavy ac, and as bonus it looks like a baby dire wolf too!

For IS, call me crazy but Urbie bc serious armor quirks and fairly cheap platform to build on, and the Bushwacker also fairly tanky and decent hardpoints to boot.

Clan lights: Arctic Cheetah 6x ER-Small. While not the same as it use to be due to the SPL nerf, it's still a powerful mech that can be semi-limited by build diversity. ECM while not able to use stealth armor, can still be very useful
IS Medium: Bushwacker P1 4x SRM 6 Artemis. A mini maddog with decent armor, and much improved due to the LFE engine. It can switch up the tendency for me to choose laser vomit build, and shake up gameplay. If you want just performance, Enforcer ENF-4R.
Clan Medium: Hunchback IIC-A. 2x HLL 3x ER-Med. This one was easily the no brainer on this list. Able to peek due to highmounts, this brittle medium rewards good play while punishing bad. In the right hands, it can put out the numbers. With the ability to MPLs, LPLs, LL, or even Poptart PPC this mech for me is hands down one of the best in category. Shout out to Huntmans as well.
IS Heavy: Warhammer WHM-6R. 2x Gauss 4x ER-Medium. The IS is blessed with two really good mechs that for me are neck and neck. The Marauder can do a lot of fun ballistic builds, and even mount a H-Gauss for the funs and certain variants having JJs. But in the end the Warhammer just barely beats it for me. I wouldn't blame others for picking the Marauder over it. It's close. But the dual Gauss and ER-Med combo is just brutal. Able to rack up high damage games, and look badass while doing it.
Clan Heavy: Linebacker 6x MPL. With a speed of 104 with speed tweak and decent armor the only thing this mech is lacking is the high alpha. The Clan has a lot of great contenders in the heavy department, but for me the Linebacker just works. Able to knife people and re-position, this versatile mech can run a few good builds and even some laughable ones. But its not all perfect. It's not going to win trades well compared to other heavies which can usually carry more firepower. In the right hands though, this mech can be downright brutal and swing games if used correctly.
IS Assault: Mauler MAL-MX90. 6x UAC 2. This Dakka boat is stupidly fun. Able to melt armor with its sheer DPS, this ponderous battle machine can be downright annoying go up against. Blinding cockpits and keeping enemy mechs heads down. The disadvantage can be the face time and speed. But it's an assault! Slow and ponderous is usually the game. LFE has thankfully increased the speed!
Clan Assault: MAD-IIC. 2x LPL 6x ER Medium. I would suggest the Madcat MK II, but its not out for C-Bills yet. The Marauder IIC is still an outstanding mech. With 66 alpha and 19/(10) Heatsinks, this baby and trade fairly often and shrug off the heat surprisingly well. With great speed, decent ability to roll damage, the only complaint I would have is the huge side torsos that can be hard to protect at times.
These are just some of my favorites. Hellbringer, Battlemaster, Blackjack, Ebon Jag and a few others are also very good mechs to pilot. I hope some of this helped, and by all means is very subjective list.

i use a 3erml 2hll tc1 loadout, which is exactly the same loadout as a hellbringer. it just trades ecm and cool-ness for 107kph and seriously nimble torso twisting.
it's stupid. you can pop up in places people don't expect heavies to be at and start muscling enemy lights and mediums cos you can actually chase them down.
