Hey, ForumWarriors. After reading another thread about balancing laser weapons I got an idea for how to fix the hidden meta, Gauss Vomit. For those of you who don't know it's when you mix C-GR and C-Lasers.

Nobody likes Ghost Heat, myself included, so here's what we should do.

Clan Gauss Rifles have an 18% chance to spontaneously explode every 45 seconds.
Clan Gauss Rifles can now jam on a shot, like double-shot for Clan Ultra Auto-Cannons and will stay jammed for 1 min and 16 seconds.
Clan Gauss Rifle ammo amount reduced to 8, from 10.
Clan Gauss Rifle heat increased to 1.3
Clan Gauss Rifle cooldown increased to 6.3 seconds.
Clan Gauss Rifle charge-up increased to 0.90 seconds.

I think this will balance Clan Gauss Rifle into oblivion.

Great idea! Where do I sign?

Also, need to increase charge up to 10 seconds. Because its 3 ton lighter than IS one you know.

I think the mix of a .9 second charge and 6+ second CD should be enough.

What type of 'mech and load out do you typically play?

Bad joke I still bad joke yet somehow this is funny. Great job at mocking those that play Forum Warrior Online.

Sometimes it's REALLY hard to tell, more or less why I started my responses in asking what type of 'mech and load out you play, instead of jumping your excrement on such a horrifically bad suggestion.

If you'd have been SERIOUS about this suggestion, you'd have answered seriously, or gotten righteously indignant (otherwise known as dramatically defensive) about why it should even matter...

Don't forget to give it a random firing spread, this will bring it more in line with the other clan ballistics... can't have a clear cut choice.

calm down now its sometimes very hard to tell the difference. Especially since a lot of people play Forum Warrior Online instead of the MechWarrior Online.

It's kind of a bad thing that it's hard to tell who's joking and who's just being salty on these forums huh? But, yeah. I was joking. If I were to request any of this stuff it might be to increase C-Gauss Rifle CD by about 3/4 or 1 full second and lower the ammo per ton a bit. It IS 3 tons lighter and takes fewer critical slots than IS Gauss but I'd nerf it very conservatively.

Well I wouldn't even bother with any nerfs. All this nerfing and not fixing is making me very sick

I kind of agree with you, so OK lets take the buff route. We could reduce IS Gauss Rifle CD by about 1/2 to 3/4 of a full second, maybe more depending? Give it more ammo per ton? Some small stuff to give IS a buff but Clan-Warriors might complain. What did you have in mind, MadRover?

More ammo per ton. Buff L gauss cooldown by a whole second (or 3/4s) if the ammo per ton for regular gauss isn't going to happen. If that doesn't happen, then make isERMLs cooler by .5 (long shot) and make isGAUSS lighter by a whole ton (nothing dramatic but a little more wiggle room). Buff LGauss so it will act like a LGauss to a minimum of a 2.5second cooldown although I'll still accept 3seconds. Then give Inner Sphere some legit gauss rifle platforms to play with for crying out loud.

Give Inner Sphere some legit gauss rifle platforms to actually play with will probably go a long way to ending these complaints. Seriously, I think this is what's really the problem. I don't see a good Inner Sphere mech that can do gauss properly. GIVE INNER SPHERE PROPER GAUSS RIFLE PLATFORMS PGI. The Nightstar is a good step in the right direction even if you have to pay real money for it.

Uh, well off the top of my head, Jager Mech, Warhammer, Mauler, and Roughneck can handle them pretty well.

The problem with asking for 'legit gauss rifle platforms' for the IS is that we ALREADY have some pretty good ones, BUT, it's not always practical to take advantage of them like the Clans can BECAUSE OF the reasons:

1. Gauss is significantly heavier
2. It's much larger.
3. Damn near everything else IS has is significantly heavier and larger
4. Clans get free CASE, EVERYWHERE (mitigating weapon explosions)

So, I don't think it's possible under those constraints...

Kind of, HOWEVER, if a pilot chooses to use those platforms, they'll always end up with a smaller alpha and slower speed than a Clan pilot would in a similarly tonned Clan 'mech, because of the issues I mentioned earlier.

I thought the same thing, since Smites is the only other person on earth with that "Today I have a simple question" tic.

Maybe. I think the bonus structure helps balance out the case, and you can have crits lowered with skill point. The WHM and MAL can strip their arms to save some weight.

I'm more of a PPC AC5 guy myself. Lower Velocity, but won't explode as bad and has better DPS up close.
