QP funplay relevant, unrestricted Compplay irrelevant.

You can have a lot of fun and do really well in all of those (The Catapult is my jam) in QP. But no, none of them are 'meta.'

I still drive all 3 regularly. I actually have fun with my Founder's Cat, thanks to Sensor Tree making LRMs somewhat useful in QP. Hunchback is still my primary ride when I run IS. Cent I think has lost a bit of it's shine, but I still seem to get by pretty good in it.

LFE has also breathed new life into my Orion-VA, among others.

Any mech, in the right hands, is relevant. The spirit of Mechwarrior video games resides in the mechlab. You have to create what works for you and your play style.

Many have said that the Cataphract is dead. However, it is one of my go-to mechs and I can consistently do decent damage in both QP and CW.

The only thing keeping me from bringing an Atlas to CW is tonnage restrictions.

Completely eclipsed comp-wise and you're basically asking the people you're with to carry you. QP still effective because it's the land of potatoes and just about anything works.

I really really really really regret selling that mech.

I tossed a 300LFE in mine, stuck with my std AC10 and 4x aSRM4, and first match back, 700+ dmg.... and it's seemed to be pretty consistent.

Certainly, as long as you modernize the build and aren't running some goofy stock loadout.

I always liked the Orion because it just felt like I brought shame and disrespect to anybody I killed with one.

"Ha, you got killed by an Orion"

Catapults still work just fine. Racked up 1065 damage 3 kills on polar with the Cat C4 but didn't screen shot it. The current gun event forces more people to go out into the open so you bring the normal ecm counts with tag and just go to town. Catapults remain my best mechs next to a few lights. Newer mechs might boat more weapons doesn't make the old ones less effective. You just have to use them better.

Well, you can make almost anything work in some cases in QP, with its madhouse nature, so gauging things by a few good games in QP isn't the best way of testing their "real viability".

Hey, hey, hey, hey. Don't let people drag you down. I'm still using the ON1-K Champion loadout, the mini-atlas, and I'm still having fun.

Well, it's nice to hear for the QP because I absolutly love my Hunchback and my Centurion.

Thing is with all the news weapons I have trouble finding what is worth it and what is not.

Currently using a Centurion with ferro and endo steel and a RAC-5 with 2 laser. It's... EXTREMELY satisfaying to hear that "RATTATATATATA".

As for my hunchback, 3 medium laser, 1 AC-20

CPLT-A1 is still awesome as SRM brawler. Less than Orion-VA, but still.

its a game, do what makes you happy.

i still do quite well in trebuchets...go figure.

too many people look for a smoking gun...having a great mech is nice. playing smart is nicer. running an older mech well is always effective, and watching idiots crash and burn in the so called optimal mechs is quite satisfying.

I still see a lot of them around and some seem to be doing just fine. I still use some of them myself -Catapult K2, YLW, Cataphracts, Jenners etc... I think in the right hands they can still be pretty good.

I'm very fond of the Yen-Lo with LFE-265, UAC/20, 2xERML.It's a nice example of an old-school 'mech really taking the new tech well. Build.

Haven't run the ballistic Hunchies much recently, but I find the classic 2xLRM10 Hunchie-J struggling with the current AMS.
