Hello Mechwarriors.

I hear that there is an event going on.
This I know, because it's plastered all over the site and the little news bar at the bottom is constantly telling me about it. Only I cant really participate...

The problem is that the special events tab doesn't work for me. It pulls up as blank.
IDK even what my progress is to whatever ballistic related challenges are going on.
I dont fully know what the rewards are either, but I have an inkling that its some kind of cockpit item. I dont know about you guys, but I love cockpit items, and its really irritating that I cannot fully participate or measure my participation in this event thanks to this tab that is glitched out.

I'm really ticked over it.

To add salt into the wound, my normal gameplay fps has dropped pretty dramatically lately from an average of 15-20 fps, all the way down to 4-8. I can do some amazing dmg at 8 fps believe it or not... (800 dmg in an lbx madcat) at 4-7, the game is unplayable, and has been for much of this event. So I'm playing picture warrior online. All i see are the things I want to shoot at floating in and out of frame before I get blown to pieces. I've basically been oscillating between hopeful optimism to rage quitting this game and flipping tables some insane masochist, asking myself why. Why am I doing this?! I'm better off trying to finish GOT or Westworld.

take your pick.

Now I realize I can do something about the FPS. I'm already working on that.
However, I am really hoping against hope... like real hope, that PGI decides to have mercy on those of us who are glitched the heck out and give us the ability to earn the item(s?) later or fix the problem quickly.

What's causing your FPS to drop?

Internal heat? Particle effects? Higher settings than what your rig can handle? Details.

Well as a fellow sub 10 frame player (playing on a laptop this year, coz reasons) i sympathise.

The event tab did same thing for me, until i switched mechs around and then it worked.

Nah actually, I think it has something to do with my ISP.
I moved and my wifi just isnt the same.
I'm going to get on them tomorrow and really hammer them over it or get a new modem.
Everything is slow, not just MWO. Never had that issue, but had alot of D/C's instead which is also annoying but a separate issue.

That aside, Im on a lower level AMD Laptop so thats mostly the slow FPS problem outside of the actual ISP slowing things down.

have you tried switching to full windowed mode, or windowed mode and see if that's the problem?

Playing MWO on wi-fi is just not smart. I'd play some other games, instead of suffering 10 FPS games.

There's a thread about the event browser issues in the patch feedback forum:
https://mwomercs.com...-event-browser/

As for performance, you might want to provide more details, e.g. hardware spec & operating system version and stuff.

8 fps?! What kind of potato PC are you trying to run this game? I mean I'd even consider your 15-20 fps unplayable.

There is a thread on the event browser issue over in the patch feedback subforum:
https://mwomercs.com...-event-browser/

There is a thread urging PGI to at least provide a traditional progress webpage:
https://mwomercs.com...-current-event/

Maybe more people need to bombard Russ on twitter or something?

Well the in game fps counter says a number, but sometimes i think the game is running faster and smoother than what the fps meter is saying because i can melt face in my mechs. As for the wifi, you would think, except that for some reason being wired to the modem vs being on my laptop in another room from the modem makes little difference in my game play preformance wise. I get randomly d/cd at the start of a match either way.

Give the tired old hamster chugging along in the wooden box Babbage machine you call a PC some meth and Red Bull.

Or spend $7.50 and get a better PC.

Uh, are you confusing WiFi with something else? The large majority of people are playing on it. And of course your ISP being slow can't screw with your FPS.

Seriously though, everyone should cable up whenever possible. Hard lines for the win!

Always use wired if possible when gaming, even the highest end wifi routers isn't recommended unless you're sitting literally on top of it, router of today are still prone to data packet loss.

But I feel those that have to deal with under powered computers, my GPU died a few days ago so I've been reduced to using my I5-4670K's Intel 4600 graphics which nets me 30ish FPS calm and 24ish FPS fighting.

Run the repair tool(gear icon) if you haven't on the stand alone game launcher and if you use Steam version go to Library > right click the game > properties > Local files > Verify integrity of game files.
