Not in the sense that it becomes managable easily, the suggestion is aimed at making overheating less of a random chance/suicide effect, and more of an effect that will pretty reliably disarm you by burning at more specific parts more often (in a general sense I would say side torsos as the main target for this purpose, but perhaps the specifics there could be engine based too).
It is just a bit too RNG in how at times it will seem to kill you off at a misclick and at other times you just get lucky heat damage bouncing to survive long periods over 100%.
