Friends - It is always fun to play with friends in combat. Because at least you have people you can count on and have fun with. When playing alone, I have to deal with M.U.T.T.s (Most Undesirable Terrible Teammates) and hear obnoxious people who want to talk garbage to others, using them as scapegoats to make up for their poor skills or teamkillers. But with friends, you can have fun and ride in style together.

Artwork - Alexander Iglesias is the man when it comes to making mechs. He can turn the ugliest mechs from any TRO and transform them into mechporn stars. You can post pics of MWLL's gameplay all you want, but in the artwork department, that man has you beat. When even the "Godfather of BattleTech" Jordan Weisman, wants to use your mech art for his BattleTech game and Catalyst Game Labs gives you the honor of creating a new cannon mech like the Roughneck, then you know you've done something right.

Camospecs - It is no secret that I love vanity items. So whenever a new mech comes out, I enjoy painting them up and posting them on the forums. With decals that feels like icing on the cake. I have to give Laura Bamlett credit for her camo skin designs and Alexander Garden respect for his commitment to new decals. It makes me feel like I am painting a mech miniature but in virtual form.

Role Play Factor - I love it when I or others put some elements of roleplay into the game. To me, it does add some fun to MWO. Being a lore nut, I hold a high amount of respect for people or units who can show appreciation towards factions or lore based mercenaries rather than the people who don't care about the lore and treat this game as a generic Counterstrike skin.

Some Good Decisions - I've seen PGI make decisions that were either nonsensical, bad, or eyebrow-raising. But I cannot deny that there were good decisions as well. The removal premium time for private lobbies, fixing hilariously bad walking animations like the Mad Cat Mk II, New Clan Factions for the game, new weapons and tech, the reworking of the "Nova Bat" logo, a new 20-ton clan mech, etc. Though there is still much more work that needs to be done, they are reasons why I can tolerate PGI to a certain extent.

Some Degrees of Respect - Despite the subpar communication PGI has with its players, I have seen them show respect towards players from time to time. The Sarah's Jenner was made to honor a player's late daughter who died from brain cancer and was put up for Cancer research, Bishop Steiner asked for his Deputy Dawg and he got the K-9 in return, Imperius asked for his Mad Cat Mk II and it happened, TheArisen asked for the NightStar and it happened. They even delivered on the Clan decals I've asked for. Sure PGI didn't have to add any of those requests, but it is remarkable that they did it anyway.

TL;DR version:
The friendships, artwork and vanity, roleplay, decisions and certain degrees of respect are reasons why I still play.

To crush our enemies. See them driven before us. And to hear the lamentations of their women.

I'm just glad the skill tree turned out so good and isn't about the player trying to get RNG loot boxes that may instead give mech poses or nothing usefull at all like the latest Star Wars title does.

Because they finally added good joystick support.

I started playing this game when I found out my son had been playing it for a few months after finding my old mechwarrior3 disc in a moving box in the cellar. When I started I had not played a game for prolly 5-6 years. But a mechwarrior game was just too much for me to resist.

Travelling a lot for work and bought some fancy laptop just to being able to play the game during the evenings when away. Lost my first laptop to some corrupted customs personnel in South America and a second one in Africa and a third one again in South America. And some people says that doing a mistake twice is stupid! I´d say its not stupid its dedication!

FP phase 2 was the highlight in the game for me. Phase 3 took the dedication away. Nowadays, I only drop a few qp matches here and there. Mainly in my favourite mechs Ebon jags, hunchies or thunderbolts. But, I am still here and having a very good time the few times I play.

Of course in-game friends. A pug team that turned around when a light lance hit our slowest mover from the left 30 seconds into Canyon. I called for help, the team came back, and we fought them off and were 2-2 instead of 0-4.

Using non meta mechs like the is jenner and my c1 to make the enemy suffer from the lrms and lasers. And most of the art. The art dept usually rocks on making the mechs go from lol stacked boxes into our beloved machines of war. The animation not so much since they've had to redo mech animations a few times. I dig the animated cockpit items and war horns.

Easy. It costs me nothing, and eventually I get to watch the world burn.

I do make efforts to direct the torches away from PGI's gas station, though. Not sure how much it matters.

It's Friday evening and I'm checking this thread, well at least I have stopped playing the game for the day.

Playing THIS game or checking the forums...Either of those two activities being done so often I just find that really, really sad.

At least I spend my time in something without damage or any value, unlike so many other worse things around in the world.

The fun factor in this game died pretty much after the skill tree began making this game tedious and unbalanced, FP continues to be a revived corpse and the MM never gets to be adjusted appropriately.

Coming here, playing the game, this is just a habit. Posted Image

I came for the stompy robots and stayed for the bacon. Posted Image

Seriously though... At the end of the day it's the IP and the battlemechs. More precisely, it's Alexs' revisioned iterations of them. Followed by the albeit shallow, game play.

I could harp for hours over what MWO could have been and how PGI disenfranchised me... But to be honest, life is filled with much steeper disappointments and I choose to instead enjoy the little things and the purity of the core game.

Same reason I'm on Sarna. I love the IP. I don't play seriously or care too much though, only a hour or so a night and as a pickup game that satisfies my itch it works.

Without the answer i would have quitted years ago.
The answer has made the game playable again.
I do have lots of fun with the answer.

Because this is the only game I know where you can pilot giant mechs with other people. Also the Marauder and Nightstar look sexy.

I was here for 4 years because the people I met in group queue were awesome.
They have since moved on to different games because of the state of this one.

I am slowly doing the same.

I keep playing other games and then coming back, and each time I return MWO has become a little bit better in the meanwhile. Progress may be slow and gradual, but you can see the difference if you take a break and return after a while.

No clue. I guess I just have no respect for my time.
