Good event, except for the part where kills weren't counted for at least part of the event.

Well, when I finished the whole thing just this evening (around 22:00 CEST) the text had dropped thev"kills or" part and straight up demanded KMDDs only. Since I don't see myself as anything but a mediocre player and still managed to do it I cannot necessarily say that the "bug" (or just incorrect wording) was that much of a problem.

Matt,

I do customer service of a sorts and answer questions from people that didn't read the document all the time...so I totally understand the urge to point out where they'd know what was going on if they'd just read the frikkin' thing...but don't do it. At most copy and paste the relevant section, but I suggest simply passing the information along in a conversational tone. It preserves good will and you can't ever let them see you sweat...which is what you're doing when you lead off with "In the event description: ".

The entire tone of the response is improved if instead of that leading sentence you just said "Absolutely!" and then pasted what you pasted.

Good job and all, but I'd hate for some of the pleasantness to fade due to text being tone-deaf.

Hi Matt,
thanks for the response. Just so you know after I completed the first objective (which was the win for 3 days premium time) I did receive an injection notice about getting 500000 Cbills but I have gotten any for any of the other challenges I completed and I completed all but the 15 kills part because, as many people have pointed out, the event wasn't properly tracking kills (before a match where I got 5 kills the event tracker said I have 5/15 kills and after that game it still said I only had 5/15...I scored well over 20 kills this weekend as per the stats in my profile on MWO Mercs but according to the event I only completed 8/15 kills). I did open a ticket for this when I noticed it happening but earlier today Bobby indicated that PGI would be resounding here.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're currently investigating the reports about 'The Hunter' Objective for the Weekend Warrior Event. As soon as I have more information about this I'll make sure to let you all know here.

Thanks,

You're welcome, and thanks for letting us know you're investigating. I would also be glad to know what prevented two types of in-combat actions from combining their totals for that particular Challenge. No way I'll blame for having to update the text displayed on the Challenge, given what's happened. However, you might want to extend the Event's remaining time by 24 hours, if only to allow people who've been messed up by this to have a fighting chance to still finish if they're a fair distance along but not done already. :)

Hey Everyone,

So after further investigation, we can confirm that Kills were not being tracked with 'The Hunter' objective as originally intended. Additionally, looking into adding these stats to a live objective have caused unexpected results with the completion status displayed in testing. Taking into account these unexpected results, and the fact that a significant amount of players have already achieved this objective with a little less than 9 hours remaining for this event, we've decided that only the KMDDs will be counted for 'The Hunter' Objective for this Event. You'll find the text has also now been updated to clearly reflect this change in the Special Events Browser and on our site for 'The Hunter' Objective.

Thanks and sincere apologies about this everyone as we're(specifically Matt) putting a lot of effort into making sure the Halloween Loot Bag Event next week is awesome and helps make up for some of our recent events using the new system.

UPDATE:
In light of the changes made to 'The Hunter' Objective with only KMDDs counting towards this progress, the WEEKEND WARRIOR QUICK PLAY CHALLENGE has now also been extended to 2017-10-25 07:00:00 UTC.

Good luck everyone and thanks again for understanding!

You are right.
Currently, I am trying to focus on the next event which is quite a bit bigger but this event keeps pulling my focus back.
I too am getting frustrated with the bugs in the event that I make for you guys and my tone should have been better.

Appreciate the feedback,
Matt

Thank you!

And bring back the old Maps in Rotation, too, Please!

Forest Colony North (the old Map) + Forest Colony South (the actual Version) for example. :-)

Good on ya Matt. It takes real sincerity to own up to a mistake, whether your doing or not, own it, and do what you can to correct. It's unfortunate more don't notice this after their constant whining and nitpicking. Thanks for the work you and the team do. Nothings ever perfect, but my 700 hours or so (in less than a year) say you guys must be doing something right! :)

Also I have to admit that was good advice Metallio; I can empathize with both sides of this, coming from a background in retail of nearly ten years.

Commmunication is happening, I can log in on the website to see event, progress of challenges and redeem goodies.

Getting somewhere. Posted Image Bugs are a bummer, I agree, classy to give people a bit more time. I just went a bit too agressive with some heavy loaded Timbies to get my last KMDDs.

Thank you for your efforts Matt and other posting peeps.

Can I just remind you about time-zones? Melbourne, Australia. Occasionally a 'weekend' event starts too late for us, missing out on 'our' Friday evening. Although if the Halloween event runs for a while, that might alleviate some of that.

Looking forward to future events now again. Posted Image

Thank you (and Matt as well) for adding time like I suggested might help in the case of those people who are still fighting to finish. ^_^

Interestingly, this wrecks my previous Event Review Rating of only a mere "8.6/10". Adding that little extra ounce of time is worth a heck of a lot. Well, I think I've got to give a more apt number to reflect this. How about a...

9.6/10

...given the quick response and re-provisioning. Yeah, I think that's a heck of a lot better! :D

Now, the following is just my opinion, looking at the Event in retrospect, but just to provide feedback on how it could have been better... If this bug preventing recognition of both Kills and KMDD had not happened, but the extra day had been provided, this Event would have been a perfect "10/10" Rating. Reasons? Perfect Time, well-designed Challenges, and the recognition of an evolution in the New Event System. I look forward to seeing improvements being released, and the New Event System only getting better and better. B)

Next thought, and a different subject...

I'll be looking forward to the Halloween Event Loot Bags, Bobby and Matt. I hope you'll be running this one for quite a while, with tons of things to draw from the bags. Please try to aim more toward 'War Horn', 'Hanging Cockpit Item', and (MC) loots? I really appreciate those a lot! Also, please make sure ALL Game Modes count, and that there is no limits during the Event's Time Span on when any Loot Bags are available? Heck, I know somebody's going to ask, so please don't forget some spooky Decals, but also please make sure it doesn't try to award a single given Decal twice during the Event, because that would effectively be an Empty Loot Bag... I remember the salt from the last time that happened. :o

And then there was this guy...

Uhm... Maybe PGI wants you to "Rock On"? Or perhaps they want you to be "Solid As A Rock"? Heck, maybe they're telling you to be "Rock Steady"? Oh, the puns! We'll just have to look forward to the Next Halloween Loot Bag Event! :P
