I highly advis, make it random maps, at worst we can get the same map twice in a row. But that dosent beat the crazy lottery bias towards HPG, Canyon, Grimm and Mining.
Random is good. Or follow the tournament style of choosing a map you don't want, and the least downvoted map is selected. A subtle difference but more effective than selecting one you want or making it completely random.

VBog in the rain is fantastic.
Looking at my stats, I have my best K/D ratio is on VBog. I don't know why, it isn't my favorite map, but I think I should choose it more often.
Oh yeah, the rain effects are aesthetically pleasing.

What Im thinking, it will be a snipers paradise. It looks great for a Shadow Cat, Thanatos and that new Black Lanner. Novas and Summoners too.
I mean there's not perfect view of the entire map, I can be wrong though.

Not really enough of a "flyby" to get the whole concept of the map, I like effects like fog and sandstorms, if anything I want more of them making sightlines even shorter. Overall just glad were getting a new map and looking forward to the Jan/February one and the 1v1/2v2 maps in march ???

On the topics of maps, I would love to see a pristine city map, non a Syria Map, with glass facade buildings "So Shiny" they blind you. You are out to protect the city, not stomp it.
I for one second the idea of auto map selection, the reduced wait times will speed up game play. Having drop decks per chassis or weight might be an idea, say you drop in a 55 tonner, you can then select another one from your drop deck if you are dropping into Mordor or Trampoline Desert if you lazer crow would be too hot.
