Catapult K2 used to be my favorite mech. Classic loadout: 4 ml, 2 uac5. High scores guaranteed. But now? I used all kinds of loadouts...never found the solution. Never ever.
Today,imho, the K2 is a big time sucking mech.

I do wish Santa could bring back our old big faithfull...

Huh.

Lots of folks are about to pour in to disagree with you I suspect.

From the HPPC build to the dual AC20, to the more recent (and one that I don’t get) build of 2 LG and 4ERML (my own old favorite is the 2AC10 4ML, and occcasionally just 4ERLL, but I am running the HPPCs atm), there are lots of decent if not good builds for the K2. And most importantly they almost all look pretty bad ***. So at the very least, the K2 always gets points for style. Many of the folks I regularly play with run K2s nightly at least for a match or two.

The K2 is a fine mech, its just been outclassed by the likes of the Warhammer, among others. Still works fine in QP, though.

K2 is my most used heavy mech. You can do almost any ac/energy load out and do good with it. If you use a lot of hot energy or ppc builds you need to spec skill tree for as much cooling as possible. My k2 has max mobility and survival tree nodes with left overs into mech ops and fire power.

K2 was one of the first dual lbx/ac20/guass build mechs. It still can too. If you're moving slow with it getting ganked by lights and fast movers go big xl or lfe. 280-300 range engines are great in the K2. 200 engines for the dual ac heavy builds. Only thing the K2 really lacks are jump jets which the other cats have.

I tried a K2 back in it's hayday. Ultimately found that I preferred the splatcat though with 4xSRM6+A and 2xML, STD Engine. Now since new tech has arrived it's been given 2xMRM30, 2xRL20, 2xERML, and has been upgraded with a LFE, the extra tonnage of which was used to also add an AMS. I enjoy it greatly.

It still a find mech, I fell in love with it again once I loaded the girl with 2 snub-ppc's and a UAC 10 with XL 300+ endo, firing 30 pinpoint damage 40 if I dare to double tape. And geniously enjoy ripping ST's off of mechs.

I say find the right build to suit you, or upgrade you're favorite build.

Was that ever a top build on the K2? Maybe before they nerfed the UAC/5 fire rate back in 2013. Like the mech is an angry PPFLD machine, good for any dual 10/20/guass ballistics or dual PPCs.

I still use my K2 and find that the de-bigulation it received a while back helped it a lot. I typically run the 2xAC10, 4xMlas combo and it still performs well.

Dual LBX-10 and 4 MPL was always my favorite K2 build.

I enjoy the 2 HPPC build. Throw in a pair of LMGs and ERSLs for backup and to exploit holes opened up by the big guns. With a LFE you can fit enough DHS to fire the HPPCs without having to take too many breaks for cooling down. The extremely high arms make for a great hull down build, which the K2 wasn't able to accomplish quite so well when it only had 10 damage PPCs available, but the HPPCs give it that extra bit of punch that makes the build actually useful.

Dual UAC20/LB20/Gauss/HPPC is baller on the chassis. The chassis is small, close to the ground, great hotboxes and agile. She's a real beaut! (I own 3)

Fun build. I run my jagermachs and riflemen in similar fashion.
Its a DPS build and that requires more facetime.

Back in the day 4ml & 2 uac5's were very effective but today there are many more mechs out there with insanely high alphas. Stick your face out even briefly and you get melted far too quickly to be effective.

Instead, you have to play smarter if you want to run with that kind of build.

Stick to a pure support role, almost like a medium mech... don't be the first one the other team spots, use hit & run tactics, and only give significant facetime when the enemy is distracted with something else.

BTW, the K2 doesn't have any ballistic cooldown or jam quirks so you may want to consider something that aligns better with the quirks it does have.

I...umm...really enjoy the 2xRAC5 + 4ML build.

That or 2xAC20...when it works it's frikkin' evil.

K2 could use a hardpoint update

most catapults could use +2M or +2E hardpoints

no heavy mech should have less than 8 hardpoints nowadays

A1 = 8M (+2M)
Butterbee = 4M, 4E (+nothing)
C1 = 2M, 6E (+2E)
C4 = 6M, 2E (+2M)
Jester = 8E (+2E)
K2 = 6E, 2B (+2E) or 4E, 4B (+2B to CT so can only be used for MG or AC2)

K2 is fine. Still does decent enough with 2 SnPPC/2 LB10-X (4 barrels o' fun Posted Image )

Cant fathom why. The rescale was VERY kindt to the dear ol' Catapult. But then again, I have never piloted one, well not an owned one anyway. Just trial. And that was before the rescale.
