Can anyone tell me what exactly are the penalties of breaking loyalty to a faction?

I am considering going merc.. since being a loyalist is not very profitable, and Clan Wolf is kinda dead..

First, you have a 7 day cooldown, meaning you can't just quit and immedeately go merc. During this time you get no contract bonuses when winning matches in FP, just you earned cbills. Additionally, you earn no LP during this period so you can eke out another level in that 7 day span on your way out the door.

The kicker though is that there is a hard line penalty of 10% LP loss on your way out. This does not affect your ranks in that faction, you keep what you've earned in rewards, but if you are thinking of coming back later to clan wolf, you would need to grind that 10% back before making actual forward progress. This hurts especially if you've already gone deep into the ranks of a faction, meaning the loss of thousands of LP.

Hope this helps.

However,it would not hurt you at all if you managed to get to 20th faction rank already - there is just absolutely no point in staying in that faction. PGI decided not to give any additional rewards for playing matches after rank 20. Makes some sense, since there is some faction population rotation.

There is no loss when quitting faction. It is when you rejoin faction you previously defected, you loose 25% of LP.

Problem with population rotation is that in many cases it means leaving your team. Case in point.

Greetings Vellron2005,

Sorry to hear that you think Clan Wolf is kinda dead. SPQR - The Legion is the largest loyalist Clan Wolf unit. We have group drops almost every night lasting four or more hours.

If you wish to stay Clan Wolf, please let me know.

If you wish to go Merc, please contact BSG_75 with Z3TA Battalion.
