Hehe.

I would return one drop deck for one extra minute, for a total of two, prior to launch.

Exactly. I have so many builds fitting for for the different map and modes, that 4 drop decks wouldnt be enough. But 2 minutes to sort them would be very nice!

I think if more mechs and builds were competitive to bring to FP then perhaps more decks would make sense (not to mention being great for bring folks back to the mode). But as it is I have a hot map deck and a cold map deck and a clan deck. With as close as I can get to meta builds in each. Just don’t see a reason for more (especially given how rarely we play FP anymore). When decks first came out, I would have had at least a dozen if I could have; different decks for damn near every map and mode and even these varried based on attack or defense. But now? Meh. I may switch 1 mech out if its a conquest match but I don’t need a whole ‘nother deck for that.

If people are willing to in a way to pay for it why not. A simple way to make money for PGI.

it amazes me they haven't done this already... anything we are willing to shell out MC for literally makes them money so if they've already started down this path and sold decks for MC already, why would they limit it to only two more ?? what's the benefit in limiting that ?? it doesn't make much sense..

Each dropdeck requires hard drive space on the server equal to whatever four mech ids require, I'll just assume uint_32t: 32bit x 4 = 128bit
4 dropdecks -> 4x128bit = 512bit
plus scouting drop decks: 4x32=128 bit
total: 640 bit

Allowing for a little storage overhead from the DBMS (indices, table data, e.t.c.) or file format (e.g. brackets in json): 1024bit
Now take that times the number of players.

Dropdeck sales would have to finance the storage space for the additional data.

You clearly overestimate the number of faction players. A one TB HDD should do it so they would be in profit after selling about 6 decks. They will be using many more times that storage space keeping track of decorative battle axes and other solaris bs.
