While I'm leaving it to Ivor to tie this in to the broader community event, I'd like all of your input on the tonnage/loadout/techbase of my and Grus' match.

And by 'input', I mean give us FUN IDEAS THAT YOU'D WANT TO WATCH. Nothing is off the table.

ppc summoners on polar highlands/alpine. No better test of skill than ppc summoner 1v1.

Either that or Orion 1v1 brawling, IS or Clan, they are both about the same

I think you should do a draft mode for weight class/map. So One player decides weight class, other player decides map, alternating. Once a Weight class and map is played, it cannot be used again. Randomize who gets 1st pick.

As Example:

Game 1: Grus gets 1st pick, He chooses mediums. R4zen gets to choose map now, and picks....Canyon.
Game 2: R4zen gets to choose mechs, he can't choose mediums, so he picks...assaults. Grus decides to pick....Terra Therma.
Game 3: Assuming the series isn't over as a 2-0, Grus now gets to pick mechs again (but only has choice of lights or heavies)

I think you get the idea.
