Novakaine Has An Issue.

It has come to my attention that one of the variants has four AMS.
So how do I put this lightly.
That's totally BS PGI.
Not withstanding AMS incredible ability to shoot thru walls.
I know what you did there PGI.
In addition to all the hard counters this will totally reduce any Lurm boat pilot to ZERO.
A big fat "0".
I know I know aw poor lurm boat special snowflake.
"Well go kick rocks."
It's bad enough I've been more effective in my Victors of late.
Just plain not fun PGI
And for that matter how fair is this?
A Victor how mortifying.
It will be a sad day for Rocketeers.

As opposed to the Kitfox / Nova which both sport 3? Also with I think ROF quirks or something?
A 4th AMS point while, cute, is rather pointless.
One Tri-AMS kitfox with 15,000 rounds is enough to essentially neutralise 4-5 LRMboats (seen it myself). So one guy LRMing from the back (ie, you) is well and truly already nullified.
Either that or you just seek, you know, cover. Which is the equivalent of 4000 AMS hardpoints

I'm going to run the 4 ams version with them, but l still want to be able to kill things as well.

4 AMS + 1 ton ammo per AMS still leaves 3.5 (ish) tons for weapons.
It is probably more likely to see 3 tons ammo (should be plenty)

so if you take 4 AMS (2 tons) and 3 tons of ammo that only leaves 1.5 tons for weapons. Not 3.5 tons. The only way to get more tons would be to use a smaller engine which is a death sentence for a 20 ton mech.
12mg+3 small/micro lasers+2.5 tons ammo is going to be the norm for a piranha.
the multi-ams role is better left to the kitfox. because the kitfox is already slow and doesnt have the option to go any faster.

Laser AMS would incinerate it, standard AMS it can't carry anything else worth mentioning along with enough ammo to feed them....unless of course you wanted to put an XL100 or something on it and pray nothing spit on you.
In this day of de wey, spitting on you is inevitable. Even then, you're a toddling Clanbot with the weakest armor in the game, hoping the other side decided to use their missile hardpoints for ATMs and LRMs. That being said, you'd troll the heck out of them while the ammo holds up and then be about as useful as the old AC/20 Spider builds.

It's the terribad who thinks a 4 AMS 20 ton light is a good idea that is EXACTLY the problem.
That guy is usually pretty worthless anyway; 4 AMS will actually let him provide some useful support to his team. 4 AMS is literally the most use that guy has probably ever been to his team.
Besides. LRMs are already bad and get the shaft often enough. This sort of stuff is just insult the injury. The Piranha has good odds of being broke AF when it's released. I get that PGI is just milking all the $ they can out of MWO before MW5 comes out but.... really? They've intentionally not released this mech for years specifically because it would be broke AF. Nothing has changed to make that not the case.

that gives you 3 tons left for 4 microlasers, 4 machine guns, and 1 ton of ammo
thats about as good as the x4 AMS piranha gets. which is not good at all. and actually pretty bad.
you could also drop your engine size down from 180 to 170 for an extra half ton of ammo. thats probably advisable since 1 ton of ams ammo isnt enough for 3 ams.
