My Atlas has a 80dmg Alpha, no Ghost Heat, no Lasers and 40 of this 80dmg is true pin point. Something Clans just cant do. And you Khobai telling us that 76 Laser dmg is to much, which is much hotter, and needs much more Hardpoints?

Laser and Gauss Vomit is all Clans have atm...

Lasers are actually pinpoint, though they aren't front loaded.

Even with that build Atlas is still inferior than other Meta mechs. The chassis has been outclassed already. Oh, and care to share that build with us? Cause mere 40 pin point damage that is not instant, is nothing against 78 Clan laser pin point damage that is instant.

So thats, what, MRM40+UAC/20? Not a particularly stellar weapon combo.

Why should i post you this Build? It sounds more like you guys with your Agenda of buffing IS and nerfing Clans know it better in every way.

Clan Laser Vomit isnt Pin Point, or it is as Pin Point as Clan Missiles or Clan AC's (all of em) are. We got a new Mech next Week with merly 11,5 Tons of Weapon Payload. Guess what Weapons work on this Mech? Lasers, cause they are light and deal enough Punch for a 55Ton Mech. Thats not our only Chassis with very little Weapon Tonnage for its Tonnage. It's not like we have a Gargoyle, Executioner, Summoner, Linebacker, Shadowcat, Ice Ferret and so one. Its true, there are some very good Chassis in the Clan Lineup and even some of the above mentioned are working in their niche. But most of them rely on Laser Vomit or any sort of Lasers + extra Weapons.

I have a 4 Light Gauss King Crab, doing 700dmg Matches with it. I also have a 4 Gauss Kodiak, im happy when i can dish out about 400 with him. Yeah its not the same and statistics yadayada.
Nerving the toys from one part of the community just angers them. Buff the hell out of your IS Mechs but let the Clan Tech alone.

If you tell me now that an AC20 + 2 Snub Nose PPC + a MRM 40, which i can Alpha about 5 Times is a bad build... yeah then i cant say anymore. We at GCGB experiencing atm AC20 and Snub Nose PPC's in Trebuchets and Catapults, thats a really, really great combo. But i know you guys, El Bandito and his Fanclub, you know it better.

They're slowly (heh, Annihilator) becoming more common. Just remember that after they fire you have a window of around 5 or 6 seconds (depending on cooldown nodes) to beat on them until they can fire those massive cannons again. And they're slow as all hell. Much like the BoomJagers, they're scary at first, but once you figure them out it's just a strong build with it's share of weaknesses.Granted, it still sucks when one seemingly pops out of nowhere, seen more than one person (myself included) dropped by a headshot in that brief moment of surprise.

Like when you round the corner to kill a mech and a BoomJager is hiding next to it....damn

The way ghost heat works doesn't let you do this.

If two weapons are linked into the same grouping, then whichever weapon has the smaller cap is the cap that will govern the entire bundle.

So if you want to link larges and mediums and still be able to fire 2 larges and 4 mediums without ghost heat, then you have to give both the large and the medium the ability to fire 6 simultaneously without ghost heat.

That, or:

Figure the alpha size per weightclass and govern just what can be linked in Weapon Groups.
Hard 1 second (maybe after lazers finish burining?) brfore the next group can fire.

This can shape roles for mechs(alpha/dps) and bring parity between clan/is.

Hardpoint inflation is here, this is likely the easiest way to deal with it. Ghost heat would do the same thing, but likely all weapons would have to be linked together anyhow.

Hellbie can still have that 72+ alpha on paper, but it gets broken down into 2 or more firings.

Energy Draw is likely a pipe dream at this point.

it is an extremely good robot. dominates the space around it, one-shots most lights, punishes anything that comes after it and has the armor to tank any return fire

Now we are onto the actual REASON laser vom has become so strong since the maze.

I question the assumption that laser vomit was not strong before.

This game has always had essentially 2 builds (3 if you count missile boats) which were the most common (by a long shot): Dakka and laser vomit.

There have been times when PPC and AC/5s were all the rage, times when pure missile boats were all the rage...but never a time that I can remember when you didn't see laser vomit and / or Dakka in almost every game.

:(

that'd be too bad, because I also feel like it's quite balanced! It's very powerful but also slow and sluggish and the moment your torso opens that HGR is gonna explode

I would agree, but (not to be cynical/IS apologist) strong IS mechs typically get nerfed. Remember the Grasshopper?

RIP

and the Dragon-1N and that one crazy LPL Locust and the list goes on and on

which is really too bad because those mechs were powerful and balanced too!

Hey, I'd be suitably impressed if I actually saw that Atlas setup in FP, much less seeing it working. I also have no idea just which unit is GCGB, cause you guys never left any impression on us (MS), perhaps due to time zone difference. We are switching to Clan soon so if you are IS right now perhaps you can showcase us. ;)

As for me promoting "buff IS nerf Clan" mentality, it is only natural, for Clan tech is clearly better than IS tech in general. Anyone who is arguing otherwise is deluded. There needs to be more comprehensive balance on everything on both sides, but that's for a different thread.

You should post it because if you want to have an actual discussion, you need to show your work.

Those are two fantastically bad mechs to base balance off of, with builds that are even worse..

Well, it is bad. It's hot, for one, and 40 tubes is hardly worth it for a 100 tonner (Atlas AS7-D, yes?). You should choose either autocannons and missiles, or autocannons and Snubs. Those are fine builds.

As for AC/20+Snub Catapults and Trebs... it's a good combo for sure. Can't say I care for the mech selection. Agility and hitboxes matter more than offensive quirks for that kind of brawling pinpoint.

Back on topic of Annihilators, I run mine with 2xHGauss and 2xSnub-Nose PPC for max pinpoint damage.

I've tried boating lasers with the HGauss but I didn't like the added face-time.
