THIS IS A FREE FOR ALL! NO TONNAGE LIMITS!

Tha Rules;
  • Your Mech has to reasonably exist within the BT universe as either lostech or a newly mech invented by clans/houses at any point in the time line. That means all modified and new mech designs are valid so long as that they conform to rule #2.
  • Your Mech has to be able to reasonably conform to the current or near future MWO/Solaris game mechanics
  • While Rule #2 is important, please do not forget that the game's current set up can and will change, so feel free to bend and tweak those mechanics a little bit. A good Example is Ghost Heat; All submitted designs are not subject to ghostheat.
  • BOTH Art and/or Walls of Text are equally valid!
  • Math to back up your design is always good!
  • No Extreme Range poking (over 1000 m) or Extreme short (under 50 m) range one shot builds! (looking at you rocket 120 bushwackers)
  • Actual Potatoes equipped with weapons will be accepted for critique!
  • Critiques and Improvements are welcome!
  • No Actual Trolling: While this is meant to be an entertaining exercise; trolling, flaming and harsh criticisms that are not directly a critique of mechs will not be tolerated. I would ask that moderators please not lock this thread, but delete such comments instead
  • No Tonnage Limits! Mechs can be from 15 tons all the way to 100 Tons.
  • Have fun with this!

2 minute sketch. How's this? I'm thinking 70ish tons. Normal 64.8kph engine (LFE280). 2 RAC5's. Alternating medium and small pulse lasers around the cockpit.

1 B per arm. 2 E per torso, 1 E in head.

And alternate loadout may trade ST energy for some missiles. Trade racs for uacs.

Things that set it apart:

Admittedly though Clans aren't in urgent need of a 50-tonner right now since they've got 3.

100 ton Tarantula-based design.

2x ERPPCs, 2x MLs, 4x LB5-X. A realistic throwback to the 25 ton Tarantula in Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat, the variant that had 4 PPCs and 4 LB10s (with the speed of a light and 360° rotation, absolutely wrecked things up close. still sad times that even back then in the 90s you had to cheat for a quad).

Visual - legs ot the mad dog, feet of the supernova, missile boxes like on the mad dog, shoulder cannons like on the Blood Asp

I want to share a BattleMech design I made that was intended to become a totem mech for Clan Goliath Scorpion before the events of the Sun Spider. It was a story that I wrote about a Spheroid group based on Clan Goliath Scorpion.

Masc speed = 100.3
With max armor mech will have 21 tons and 28 slots to work with.

Looking for a super tanky design (very narrow CT), but sub-optimal (lowish) hardpoint locations on the arms and few higher torso slots (not saying knuckledragging, just not battlemaster-like hill poke ability). Designed to be the Clan roughneck.

Question. Does the Mecha fluff have to be Solaris based, or does it's performance and builds just have to 'accidently' confirm to expected Solaris standards?

Well the first mech I have is an IS 80 ton mech I designed a while back. (edited to better fit TT rules, hopefully...) I call it Scorpion tho technically that name is already taken by a quad iirc.

Default loadout is something like:
-- SPN-A1 --
3x AC/2's + 4T ( 1/1/1 LT - CT - RT)
6x medium Lasers ( 3/3 LA - RA)
2x Small Pulse Lasers ( 1/1 LT - RT)
2x AMS 2T ( 1/1 LA - RA)
--
STD 240 -- 17 Heatsinks -- 2x Case (LT - RT) -- 432 armor.

Another variant swaps the AC/2's and the two small pulse lasers for two UAC/5's and an extra ton of armor. it also adds one more heatsink and upgrades the medium lasers to ER's.

2x UAC/5's + 4T (1/1 LT - RT)
6x ER-Medium Lasers ( 3/3 LA - RA)
2x AMS + 2T ( 1/1 LA - RA

Third variant is more of a longer range harasser that replaces the ballistics with 3 light PPC's and adds two LRM-15 launchers. The medium lasers are replaced with small lasers. The engine is also replaced with a light 320 for added speed and the heatsinks upgraded to doubles. the AMS' are removed to make room.

You actually can't use a 270 engine in an 80-ton mech under the TT build rules. Your engine has to be a multiple of your tonnage. So your choices are 160, 240, 320, and 400 for this robot.

Well that would have been great to have known beforehand. =/

Edit: actually, are there any more construction rules to keep in mind when designing a mech? Any specific Armor amount for various tonnages perhaps or other things like that?
