Hello Mechwarriors!
In the interest of expanding the competitive scene for Mechwarrior Online, an idea has been developing to create a new league that takes a fresh and innovative look at the current competitive landscape. Imagine a draft and salary system, much like a pro sports team, where players are hand picked to form a team to compete for prizes. If that peaks your interest, we are looking to expand our team to other creative minds that would like to develop and manage this league.

A couple of things to keep in mind:
* We're not looking to compete with other established leagues, but instead run games in between other seasons.
* This league will be short duration (~6 weeks).
* Players will be compensated in MC.
* We're very interested in feedback, ideas, criticisms, and concerns. If you feel like you have a lot to say maybe consider being a member of the development team?
* A copy of this post will be on Reddit as well. Feel free to engage us in either location.

So please like, reply and spread the word. If you want to help develop this league send either Ivor or Q a pm. You can also hit us up on the MechHub Discord server https://discord.gg/5hctbug

FAQ:
Joining the team
- What are the requirements to be on the dev team?
There are no hard and fast requirements. Do you have experience running any aspect of another league (in or out of game)? We'd love your experience. Do you have experience playing in other leagues? We'd love to get your perspective as well! Do you have ideas? We'd love to hear them.

The League
- Do the players get the MC salary or just a share of the winnings?
The design/intention is players earn the salary separate from an additional prize pool.

- How will Timezones effect the league? Will it be open to all or NA/EU/AP divided?
This is currently a point of discussion for devs. The league will not be closed to any region, but game times, especially at first, will likely be set rather than flexible.

-Who does the hand-picking?
This is another point of discussion but the current design is to have team managers that participate in a draft.

Have you looked at Leagues from other games? I attended an Overwatch league meeting with venture capitalists a little while ago and what they are attempting is bloody brilliant. Leverage that for the smaller details.

One thing to decide up front is: is this a top down or bottom up league? Top downs assume only the best can play and drive results/rewards down to the players directly based on skills as they drive through equal skill teams (a vertical league). Bottom ups are leagues that players and teams drive up through balanced tiers to reach the top and share growth and rewards (a horizontal league.) depends what you want to do?

Personally, inclusion is a lot better than exclusion.......more would want to be involved and the better the population size, the more opportunity to retain those players who find value.....

Thanks Asym. I'll see if I can track down details of that league. We'll be looking at other models to see what works and where we can innovate. Right now we're looking at options to make a hybrid of both models. But what that looks like, we're not sure yet. Stay tuned and THANK YOU for the lead!
