What if we add one division where the mechs are regulated like a formula 1/ Indy car.

So have a specific build that changes every season. Only that specific build is allowed, placement and skill tree can vary.

so xyz mech with abc engine, 2 med lasers, 1 ERL, for example

The community can participate to choose...or maybe call it HERO division and only use hero mechs.

Then each season could honor someone from lore.

I have been down that road, and no one likes unconfigured mechs in a build a mech game

I would play it. Also it would take actual skill to get some of the terrible mechs to work ^_^

Hero mech would suffer the same issue most ofthe Divions do now.

Some mechs will dominate and others will not.

Also Hero mechs division is then, predominately, pay to play. That won't ever fly.

Except many stock mech loadouts are significantly better. Which in turn solves nothing.

Omg there are mechs that are better then others...suprise. Do you think limiting the type of weapons would change that all mechs are equal?`
Sorry won't happen, mechs perform different depending on hardpoints and quirks and as long as not everyone plays the exact same mech you will allways have the one or two that are better then the rest.

What Stockmechs can solve is that you have much better control over what mechs go into what division because you know the loadout. So all the "good", that we now from the start are good, can be in one division while you sort the rest by "how hard they suck", so to speak.
I mean how cool or in this case hot would it be to have a division with all the hot running mechs where pliots realy have to learn to handle the heat instead of haveing the prefect cool build.

My proposal to balance is that only one specific mech chassis and model is used in one division.

That the mech occasionally changes, so that we know who was the best in one specific example of mechs. However, we have lots of mechs and might have lots of "heroes" turn up.

Maybe the "hero mech" idea isn't perfect.
