I'm new to MWO so be gentle.

I enjoy playing at longer ranges and giving support to my fatties. I don't like the idea of sitting behind the front with a bunch of armor so that's why I'm trying it in a light or medium. Seems like clanners get all the good long range stuff for much less weight.

Add the arm actuators at least.

Honestly, I don't see the Cougar doing PPC well. Every PPC light I've met in-game is a detriment to their team, whereas lights with ERLL almost always are beneficial. Not only are they lighter weapons, but they produce less heat. Also, no travel time makes for higher average sniping damage, despite not disrupting ECM. (the only real useful part of PPCs right now for lights)

Actually, the most effective builds with the Cougar tend to be 6x medium class lasers, and close range combat. Just make sure you grab the -H head and an ECM.

Cougar is a pretty neat mech but has tricky gameplay. The problem with sniping with it is its mobility. For a glass cannon light, it's slow for its weight class and even heavies have little trouble running it down. The same loadout on the adder would be more effective because of the adders speed and they have the same profile. That being said, it can do some fun things, here's a couple of my loadouts. This mech will run hot no matter what you do, so may as well make angry use of this.
All the Hellbringer firepower with none of that pesky armor. Fire hide repeat.. highly reccomend coolshots.

Another common type is the ATM, this is how i loadout mine. *the CAP is for decreased lock time not to break stealth, same with the targeting computer* Typically youll stay with your main force and just shoot what they're shooting using the atms for some suprizing punch and the erml to saw off highly damaged components. Can drop the heatsinks for more ammo but, this is the ballance that does me well.

The stock jumpjet model seems to do okay as well, burn the HMLs and suppliment with the uac/5 as necessary. The low arm profile and loss of torso hardpoints by having JJs make it difficult to take advantage of higher vantage points. I like JJs and this is far from META but here's a way to make some use of them. Allows you to poke or poptart around friendlies
