Didn't know the best place to post this but.

Can we get the Clan version of the treb please thanks.

...I like trebs

TBT-7MM Trebuchet - Merida

This Trebuchet upgrade is actually based more on a Clan Invasion-era model than the older medium support raider. The original 7M’s jump jets were removed to make room for more firepower and armor. The mech trades out the standard fifteen-tube LRM pods for Clan Streak LRM-15 instead. Two ER Medium Lasers for intermediate range work complete the mix of ranged weapons. A Small Vibroblade was installed for those who try to get even closer still. Ten tons of Reflective Armor and CASE II protect the mech, while ten Double Heat Sinks keep the 'Mech cool. BV2 = 2,028.

It's not a "Clan" Treb, or it would have been a IIC version. That is a Treb that mixes Clan tech weapons onto IS mechs, which isn't a thing in this game.

Also, we don't have close combat, so a Vibroblade would be useless. And we don't currently have Reflective armor nor CASE II.

So, that's basically three strikes...

Then the question becomes, what would that hero mech have for hard points and default build? What would make it different (without being over powered, just different) from the normal C-bill versions of the mech?

Please, don't recommend it having or being made of Clan tech though... I know in Lore they sometimes did mixed tech, but it was actually a rarity. Plus, in this game we don't have the ability of mixed tech.

Clan analogue to the trebuchet would be the huntsman if you were looking for a jumpjetting missilethrower.

Case II is Clan CASE... we have it, its stock on all Clan mechs for all body parts. It also doesn't take any slots.

So two strikes.

The reason that nothing particularly like the Treb exists among the Clans is a different mentality. Typically, lights, heavies and assaults may carry a few LRM launchers, with no one truly dedicated to the role. Interestingly you may take a notice that with almost no exceptions, only mediums 86 (81 in MWO) kph or faster ever would carry LRMs, and more commonly as a means to keep enemies from running away or as a boost to their other longer range firepower. The Kraken (Bane) is a bit of an exception, and really it only exists for home defense in the most dire of situations. Even then its a 100 ton Ultra AC monster or in the case of the 3rd iteration, 8 LRM-15s.

Fighting without facing your opponent is a really cowardly way to fight, as such the concept of "artillery" is pretty foreign to them. Trebuchet is an artillery mech intended to lob missiles over things and hit structures, like a Trebuchet or Catapult lobs boulders onto castles. Thus no real Clan equivalent.

Outside of lore... Huntsman's your best bet. There's also the Hunchback IIC.

The clan mech most closely resembling the Trebuchet in function would be the http://www.sarna.net.../Howler_(Baboon).
I think we can all agree that one would not fare well in MW:O, lack of backup weapons and all.

If MWO had a different damage model it could do fairly well.. But with everything being upfront damage, yeah that would suffer horribly.
