Dunno if this has been posted anywhere else, but the RAC2 does 1.111 damage per point of ammo. (it does the stated 0.9 damage per shot, like in the patch notes)

Just an FYI.

[edit] My math sucks today, I divided in reverse. It doesn't do 1.111 damage as previously stated.

So the actual damage is higher than the 0.9 PGI had claimed last patch? How did you test it out?

Put 150 rounds into the turret in the Academy at point blank range... But what I posted is actually wrong. I divided in reverse. (135 damage for 150 rounds fired) It is actually the 0.9 damage per shot. The RAC5 is 1.5 per shot. (120 damage for 80 rounds fired)

Imho, the rac2 is over the at at present... melts armor too fast and getting hit by it leaves nothing but an orange screen.
Can't see anything while the bullets are hitting me.

It really is OP considering the name "2"... It's a RAC3 right now.

I disagree, but mostly because of how much facetime is required to make the RAC2 work. If your opponent can fight while blinded or if they have backup, then it's pretty easy to counter RAC2s. But triple RAC2s actually feel viable right now, something they certainly weren't before. A MAD-3R with 3 RAC2s and 4 ML can really rack up a lot of pain if you try to facetank it or don't pay it any heed. However... I will say that it feels like the jam chance on RAC2s at max bar feels awfully slim and the jam time relatively short. There have been instances where I have turned on my RAC2s and kept them on a target, one or two will jam, but the third will continue firing until and sometimes even after the first two have unjammed. I like it, but I can understand why someone else would find it troubling.

I have had a RAC2 boat sit there and constant fire at me for well over 40 sec... Fortunately I was just beyond his max range, so he was wasting ammo. (Frozen City is remarkable for this kind of behavior)

Saw a Sleipnir with 3xRAC2 + AMS in FP just now. Bloody waste of a good mech.

That's... nowhere near enough firepower for a 90 tonner. Sure, if someone pulls out a CP-11-A with 3 RAC2s and MRM40 or even MRM60, I'll accept that. But 3 RAC2s on their own is... a Shadowhawk build.

Seeing lots of RACs lately - the blinding effect can be lessened a bit by switching to thermal or night vision.

For a weapon that has good accuracy, high DPS, long range and a blinding effect, they seem to be slightly overperforming now.

no no wait wait wait.... people are saying rac2 is op now? are u kidding? before people were laughing and charging at whatever marauder 3r or shadow hawk 2h that dared to bring 3racs on the battlefield, and now for a 0.1 buff on damage rac2 is suddenly op... please

I melted an atlas with 3 rac2s in a rifleman walking backwards as he ran forward. I dunno what they did but man you can almost go 1 to 1 heat vs jam bar. Meaning you can shoot the thing foreverrrrrr before your heat up or you jam. I don't remember being able to shoot 3 of them for so long b4. Then again, I never touch racs again after they first released, till just now when another rifleman nearly stripped all the armor off my FNR and all I was doing was backing off a ramp.

Considering I hate the rifleman and racs, I had good fun with it. I shall play it more now.

Jam Bar was increased by 33%, which is the actually meaningful buff.

For 8 tons and just 3 crit slots RAC2 is now better than AC5, which is also a kind of a dps weapon. AC5 has a small range advantage and is cooler, but does half the dps.

2x RAC2s on a CP-11 only increase the heat bar to ~12% before they both jam. (at least that's what happened with mine) That is, if you don't have any skill nodes.

Please don't talk about Rac's being OP. They are noob killers, and they are specifically countered by the true problem meta... Clan laser vomit.

I have never seen dual or triple RACs lose in a straight trade with laser vomit at more than 66% tonnage.

Yes, Racs SEEM OP in quickplay, vs Johnny potato, use in team play or FP against a 12 man of coordinated HBRs/EBJ's? Your gonna get melted.
