Ok not directly modifying Smurfy itself, but making an entirely new thing with an upgraded UI, mechlab, search tools, and sections to save mechs to user accounts, as well as an "archive" area that explains concepts of the game such as new player strategies and the formulas behind all the data / game mechanics. A lot of progress has been made, check out a preview of it here:

I intend for this to be a continually evolving site, getting new additions / changes that the community wants. Possibilities include unit management with a list of members in your unit, unit-specific builds, files, etc, using the actual in-game models on the site (I've successfully uploaded a marauder iic to ensure it's possible), and whatever else people come up with. Feel free to suggest ideas!

The URL will be given out soon (EDIT: available now! see latest post https://mwomercs.com...b-beta-release/), there are still some things I want to wrap up and fix before release, but if you really want to see progress so far I'm available on each of TheB33f and Baradul's discords and will give it out there.

I like everything except the "you shouldn't put LRMs on assaults" thing.

Friends don't let friends LRM, lol.

As for the site, I gotta say I like it. It's been very handy in the past, and you say it's going to be better? I say go for it. :)

It's pretty good advice, just don't do it.

This new smurfy interface looks absolutely amazing.

It isn't. Few of best lurm boats in game are Assaults, damage they can dish out is just insane and incomparable to any other weight class (means super-short TTK). If some folks don't know how to lurm in Assault, it doesn't make it automatically bad. As a pro tip for newbie it might be so, but for any player who knows what he's doing - it isn't.

LRMs put up pretty damage numbers but the spread makes them extremely inefficient at neutralizing threats. Not to mention if you are performing the role of an assault mech and sharing armor as a front line unit, ATMs and MRMs have the advantage of raw damage and (relative) control over targeting, respectively.

So many quality of life features that I wish the real game had. You're a gentleman and a scholar, OP. Can't wait for this to go live.

Are the silly quirks incorporated in the background?

At the moment only the structure and armor quirks are incorporated into the mechlab but I will be adding the effects of cooldown/heat/etc quirks to the weapons and values as well yes.

One thing I would like to see is a picture of the mech in the background when selected. Maybe use the art from the store page for the mechs. The empty space to the right of the selection window has my brain waiting for the model to load in.

Can you listed updated clan set of 8 quirks somewhere on smurfy? I can only ever find individual omnipod quirks. Never set of 8.

I didn't make smurfy :P so can't update it, but MechDB will distinguish between set of 8s on the browse section (the list of mechs in the video). You can see right now that the adder for example has some quirks listed twice, it's because it's showing each omnipod's value. What I'll do is have a set of 8 section and then individual pods below it. The database in the back-end is already set up to do this, it's just a matter of sorting on the front-end.

Until they drop on Solaris..Or Ruby... pretty much any map with enough cover makes them wildly useless "Get me locks! Face tank as long as possible! Suicide light UAV! What's that? You need 100T to share armor? Sorry too busy holding one button down because it's as mindless as it gets! GL!".

Id go over why LRMs are a complete waste in almost any given scenario, but that'd be about the 100th or so time I'd have said. If pushing a button and sitting as far back as possible is your thing because you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn otherwise, good on you.

Can you put them on a list in a side frame? Or is that more hassle than its worth?

Would be nice to be able to check them from mech to mech as you are building/re-creating your builds to see which might have the edge advantages and where so long as they keep the goofy system in place anyhow.
